Measure the physical properties of different forms of matter in metric system units (e.g., length, mass, volume, temperature) (PS-H-A1) Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Video editing app In this task students will view an Edpuzzle video and develop questions to embed into the video for review of these concepts. Edpuzzle In this task when the students are finished with the chapter they will take a practice test as a review in the folder from the current chapter . This Task is used for each of the chapter so all the GLE’s will be cover over the span of the school year. S Blackboard Chapter Review In this task when you are finished with the chapter you will take a practice test as a review in the folder from the current chapter . SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log into Blackboard. Under the chapter that we just concluded, pick the tab at the bottom of the page labeled Chapter Review. Complete the practice test and review your answers. You should do this as many times as possible to help increase our score. 3 Edpuzzle of Periodic Table of Elements
In this task you will view an Edpuzzle video and develop questions to embed into the video for review of these concepts. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Log into Edpuzzle and select student log in. Sign in with your assigned student username and password. . In the videos pick either of the two Periodic Table Videos You will watch the video and develop questions to be embedded into the video. As you watch the video pause the video and make note of the time where your question will be inserted. You will create a report with the video name, your list of questions with the time mark for each questions. You are required to develop between 4-7 questions and turn these in at the end of the period. 4 Whatever Floats Your Boat
M Whatever Floats Your Boat You will be given the task of designing a boat that will float in water with a small car inside as its cargo. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Each group will be given the mass of a small matchbox car and a small can of Play dough. Groups will be required to design a boat from the Play dough that will float on its own and support the weight of a matchbox car. Measure the following before you begin designing your boat: Mass of Dough, Volume of Dough, Density of the water Define the following terms: Buoyancy, Displacement, and Archimedes Principle. You will need to calculate the weight of the boat and car, volume of the water being displaced by the boat, and the buoyant force need to float the boat and car. Each group will make a video about their process to prove their success or difficulties as a boat builder. Use any video creation device to create the video, keeping it under 2 minutes. Log into Blackboard and go to the discussion board and select the forum titled Chapter 18 (Properties of Atoms and the Periodic Table) Create a Thread and title it EdPuzzle Video Questions. Add your questions. Once you create your thread you will need to view 3 other threads and evaluate the questions entered and provide feedback on ways to improve the questions.
