2 Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
Cellular Organelles Listen to a podcast about cellular organelles. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Yvonne McGuire Click on the Biology tab found on the left. Open the Biology Unit 1 content folder. Open the Chapter 7 Folder. Click on the link for the podcast “Cellular Organelles.” Be prepared to discuss information on the podcast. This task uses: Blackboard Internet-connected device Learning Objective(s): The students will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory and presentations of findings. (SI-H-A3) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Yvonne McGuire School: Sam Houston Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3 Grade Level/Subject: 10th Grade/ Biology Special Directions/Considerations: Information found on my Blackboard site. Teacher needs to provide the podcast on their own Blackboard site for students to access. Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

3 Cell Structure and Function
Use Quizlet to review cell parts and functions. Answer questions about knowledge of material. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Yvonne McGuire Click on the Biology tab found on the left. Open the Biology Unit 1 content folder. Click on the Chapter 7 folder. Click on the link for the Chapter 7 Quizlet. Review the cue cards found in this section. Take a practice test and check your answers. This task uses: Blackboard internet-connected device Quizlet Learning Objective(s): The students will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory and presentations of findings. (SI-H-A3) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Yvonne McGuire School: Sam Houston Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3 Grade Level/Subject: 10th Grade/ Biology Special Directions/Considerations: Information found on my Blackboard site, - teachers should provide a link to the Quizlet on their own Blackboard site for students to access Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

4 Organelle Facebook Project
M Organelle Facebook Project Use PowerPoint to create a Facebook Page for an organelle. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Yvonne McGuire Click on the Biology tab found on the left. Open the Biology Unit 1 content folder. Click on the Chapter 7 folder. Click on the Organelle Facebook Project Folder Download the Organelle Facebook Project Assignment. Use the Organelle Facebook Project Template PowerPoint to complete the assignment on your previously assigned organelle. Add your information to this PowerPoint. Be sure to look at the rubric that is with your assignment. A sample project on the nucleus can be found in this Blackboard folder to help guide you with your assignment. This task uses: Blackboard Internet-connected device PowerPoint Learning Objective(s): Choose appropriate models to explain scientific knowledge or experimental results (e.g., objects, mathematical relationships, plans, schemes, examples, role-playing, computer simulations) (SI-H-A4) Evaluate selected theories based on supporting scientific evidence (SI-H-B1) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Yvonne McGuire School: Sam Houston Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A4, SI-H-B1 Grade Level/Subject: 10th Grade Biology Special Directions/Considerations: Information found on my Blackboard – teachers should provide content on their own Blackboard site for students to access. Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

5 Organelle Facebook Project Sharing.
Post projects to a discussion board and comment on another class’s projects. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Note: This task builds on the M task card that precedes this one. Log onto Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High - Yvonne McGuire Click on the Discussion Board tab found on the left. Add your project to the discussion board titled “Organelle Project.” View at least 2 other postings from another hour of Biology and provide an additional comment supporting the organelle’s function. This task uses: Blackboard internet-connected device Student-created PowerPoint Facebook Organelle projects (M task card product) Learning Objective(s): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Evaluate selected theories based on supporting scientific evidence (SI-H-B1) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Yvonne McGuire School: Sam Houston Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3, SI-H-B1 Grade Level/Subject: 10th Grade Biology Special Directions/Considerations: Information found on my Blackboard site, Teacher must have BB201 to use. Teachers need to create the discussion board for students to contribute content. Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:
