1 We All Go Through Phases!
This is an introduction to the phases of the cell cycle and mitosis. You will read about the cell cycle and mitosis and describe the phases. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Use the iPad to scan the QR code the teacher has posted on GZAAS. Read over the information about the cell cycle. Each student in the group will choose a different phase of the cell cycle and create a Google Slide with their information about their phase including the description of the events. Make sure you stay on the color slide you begin with. Title it with the name of the phase. Add your student code name to that slide. Have group members evaluate other slides to ensure they have completed the task. Learning Objective(s): I can describe the events of cell cycle phases. This task uses: TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Kim Holmes School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: GLE 15, LS-M-B1 Grade Level/Subject: 7th Grade Life Science Special Directions/Considerations: Google Slide Presentation, this is the website for the QR code Activity Evaluation: Google Slides will be evaluated upon completion Prerequisites for students: Create a Google slide presentation and share the presentation where anyone can edit, post the link in an accessible place for students, such as BlackBoard. Generate a QR code with website (Khan Academy) listed above.

2 A Multiplicity! You will watch a video and answer questions on Edpuzzle about the Cell Cycle and Mitosis. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Login to Mrs.Holmes’ Blackboard. Click Online Science Notebook, then Unit 6 Reproduction and Heredity. Click on the Edpuzzle Mitosis video link. During the video, the video will pause for you to answer questions. If you are unsure of the answer, you can replay the section. You will use the images from the video to create an image of your cell cycle phase on your Google Slide Presentation. To create the image, you will go to your Google Slide for your phase and draw in the second box the image of your cell in that phase. Use the drawing tools found in the tool bar area of your slide. Make sure to include all parts and label each part. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): I can illustrate the phases of the cell cycle. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Kim Holmes School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: Grade Level/Subject: GLE 15, LS-M-B1 Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Google Slide presentation will be evaluated upon completion. Prerequisites for students: Make sure you embed your video in an accessible place for students, such as BlackBoard.

3 M Lights, Camera, Action! You will simulate the phases of the cell cycle. You and your group members will use iMovie to create a skit of the cell cycle in action. MODIFICATION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable Gather with your group members and review your groups presentation on Google Slides. Brainstorm ideas to create a skit about the cell cycle. You may use props, such as yarn, rope, etc. Make sure important parts of each event are labeled, such as chromosomes, spindle fibers, etc. Make sure you have a narrator for each phase describing the events that are taking place. Save your iMovie with your group number and hour on the iPad. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): I can act out the events of the cell cycle. I can identify important parts of each event in the cell cycle. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Kim Holmes School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: GLE 15, LS-M-B1 Grade Level/Subject: 7th Life Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Google Slide presentation and iMovie will be evaluated upon completion. Prerequisites for students: Need iPad with iMovie app

4 Theater Critic Reviews
You will upload your video to BlackBoard discussion board and critique another groups skit. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable Log in to Blackboard and click on the discussion board. Under the appropriate thread, post your iMovie you and your group members created. You will critique another groups skit from a different class period and respond with questions or comments pertaining to the phases in the skit. You will review the phases and events of cell cycle in Quizizz. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): I can evaluate the phases and events of the cell cycle. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Kim Holmes School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: GLE 15, LS-M-B1 Grade Level/Subject: 7th Life Science Special Directions/Considerations: Teacher needs to create a Quizizz and have access to Blackboard discussions. Activity Evaluation: Evaluate google slides, iMovie and Quizizz Prerequisites for students:
