Teacher: Joshua Blount Louisiana Math Standard (include description): D-1-H-GLE 27. Determine the most appropriate measure of central tendency for a set of data based on its distribution (D-1-H) Task Overview Learning Objective(s) Suggested Technology Create your own digital test on central tendency and take another student’s test. Use statistics appropriately to express data distribution to compare two or more different data sets. MS Word Blackboard Create a math wrap about central tendency. Video/audio recording device Blackboard Research the history of central tendency. iPad Notes app Review and discuss the 3 major forms of central tendency: mean, median, and mode using Microsoft PowerPoint MS PowerPoint REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. transformation MODIFICATION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. enhancement SUBSTITUTION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with no real change.

S Application of Central Tendency 12-3 Review and discuss the 3 major forms of central tendency: mean, median, and mode using Microsoft PowerPoint SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Describe the three main forms of central tendency. Discuss whether these three are the only forms of central tendency Discuss which method is the most accurate and why? When is central tendency useful in real life? 5. Create a basic PowerPoint answering these questions/statements. This task uses: Microsoft PowerPoint Learning Objective(s): Use statistics appropriately to express data distribution to compare two or more different data sets. Central Tendency Research the history of central tendency. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct tool for substitution with some functional Improvement. Using the notes app on the iPad, read the research article from the link below and list 5 questions that you have. After you list the questions, share them with a partner for them to answer. M Math Rap Create a math rap about central tendency. MODIFICATION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Create a math rap video/audio clip about central tendency. The rap should be 2-3 minutes long and explain central tendency. Include information about mean, median, and mode. Upload the completed video to Blackboard discussion board. This task uses: Video/Audio Recording Device Blackboard Learning Objective(s): Use statistics appropriately to express data distribution to compare two or more different data sets. 5 R Create a Digital Test Create your own test and take other students’ tests. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. You will create your own exam for central tendency. I want you to include multiple question types: multiple choice, short answer, and essay. Using Microsoft Word, write at least 10 questions. Make an answer key for the test with all the work required as well as the answers. Do not post answer keys for everyone to see, upload them in the Blackboard assignment manager provided. Upon completion, upload your assessment to Blackboard in the location I have provided you in the discussion forum. Click on at least two other classmates. Take their assessments and provide the answers you received you got when you took the test on a sheet of paper. This task uses: Blackboard Microsoft Word Learning Objective(s): Use statistics appropriately to express data distribution to compare two or more different data sets.
