January 25, 6:00 pm – 8 th Grade Parent CDO January 27, during the school day – 8 th graders from Mt. Vista visit counselors at CDO January 28, during the school day – Counselors visit 8 th graders at Cross February 2, during the school day – Counselors go to Cross to pick up course selection sheets and to help students enter their course selections online February 3, during the school day – Counselors go to Mt. Vista to pick up course selection sheets February 11 – Open Enrolled Student Pre-registration Night
February 24 – Open enrolled students should submit course requests no later than this date March 4 – Registration paperwork should be completed and submitted to Cross, Mt. Vista or CDO registrar June – Specific dates for walk through registration posted on the CDO webpage Late July/Early August –walk through registration (receive class schedule, books, etc.) August 5 – New Student Orientation August 11 – First day of the school-year!
English – 4 credits Math – 4 credits Science – 3 credits Social Studies – 3 credits World History, US/AZ History, Government/Econ PE – 1.5 credits Fine Art OR CTE – 1 credit Electives – 5.5 credits Total Credits = 22 Each class taken, and passed, each semester earns.5 credit
English – 4 credits Math – 4 credits (Alg I, Geom, Alg II, one class beyond Alg II) Science – 3 credits (must be lab sciences) Social Studies – 2 credits Fine Art or CTE – 1 credit Foreign Language – 2 credits (same language) Total = 16 credits (These are the “16 core courses”)
Attend classes 8+ absences equals loss of credit in class Complete and turn in homework Expect minutes of homework/study per night Student should have scheduled “homework time” at home Use a planner Attend tutoring as needed Tutorial time three mornings per week After school tutoring 3 days per week
Use the Parent Portal/Student Portal to track grades Communicate with teachers Ask questions Check teacher website for information, work missed when sick, etc. Let teacher know if you need help Make sure you are in the correct courses Level changes can only occur during the 1 st five weeks of the school year Get to know your counselor Get involved in school Athletics, clubs
