George Washington AMERICA’S FIRST PRESIDENT

English/ Language Arts 2 nd Grade  CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.1 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.1  Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.  The Purpose of this presentation is to familiarize my class with George Washington.  Learning Objective: The students will be able to know who George Washington is, what he is famous for, when he was president, and why he is so important to our nation’s history.

George Washington’s Childhood  He was born February 22, 1732 in Virginia  He once had smallpox, but survived  He was made county surveyor at the age of 17  There is a tale that George Washington chopped down a cherry tree, then immediately told his mother. Thus noting that he could not tell a lie.
