3 1732 Born in Westmoreland County, Virginia

4 1749 Becomes the official Surveyor for Culpeper County, Virginia 17 years old

5 1754 George Washington surrendered Fort Necessity in the French and Indian War

6 1755 - 1758 George Washington commands Virginia’s frontier troops. Later went back home

7 1759 Married Mrs. Martha Dandridge Custis

8 1775 Elected commander in Chief of the Continental Army. Very smart general

9 Revolutionary War Looked like they were losing in the beginning. Trenton NJ – December 25, 1776 Winter - Valley forge 1777 Yorktown Virginia – October 19, 1781

10 1789 Elected first president of the United States (13 states).

11 1793 Washington is re-elected as president.

12 1799 George Washington dies at Mount Vernon at the age of 67. Cold, fever, throat infection

13 legacy Received name “father of our country.”

15 1879 Joseph Stalin was born in Georgia on December 21, 1879

17 1901 In 1901 Stalin joined the Russian Democratic Party. Lenin was his role model who he looked up to.

18 1912 Lenin sends Stalin to the Bolshevik party.

19 1917 Stalin was named commissar of Nationalities in 1917.

20 1922 In 1922 Stalin was named secretary of the communist party.

21 1928 In 1928 Stalin begins his five year plan to bring Russia to the industrial age. He also became dictator of Russia due to Lenin’s death.

22 1935 Stalin begins his great purge. He kills anyone that he thinks might be a threat.

23 1939 Stalin signed the non-agression pact with germany in WWII. In 1941 Germany attacked Russia anyway.

24 1953 Was at an all night party. Suffered from a stroke and became paralyzed. Died five days later on March 5, 1953
