Welcome to 4 th Grade’s Back-to-School Night!!!

Grading Policy Students are graded on the following percentage scale: %A 89-80%B 79-70%C 69-60%D 59% and belowE Final grades are calculated using the following weights: Reading, Oral & Written Communication, Math, Science, Social Studies Assessments  50% Classwork  35% Homework  15%

Grading Policy- Continued Assignments that are late will receive partial credit. If a student is absent for an excused reason, please make sure to provide a note to the office/teacher so that work may be made up for full credit. If there is any question about an assignment or due date, please contact your child’s teacher in advance.

Homework Will be assigned daily to review the material covered in class. Students will be writing assignments in their agenda books. Missing homework/assignments will be accepted within reason Emphasize the importance of not procrastinating.

Homework- Continued Students are expected to read every night for minutes. They should fill in their Reading Logs each night. They will be collected each Monday. Homework may be assigned over the weekends. Graded papers will be passed back in Monday Folders and filed in binders Monday night. Binders will be checked for a Work Habits grade.

A closer look at our… PBIS Plan for Glenn Dale Elementary Behavior Incentive Program

The Four Expectations The four gator expectations that are the foundation of the PBIS plan are: I am RESPECTFUL. I am SAFE. I am RESPONSIBLE. I am PREPARED.

Colors GREEN - Every day is a new day, and every student starts on green. If you stay on green the whole day, that means that you have met all of Glenn Dale’s expectations and you earn a ticket. YELLOW – Student will go to the time-out desk in the back of the room for 10 minutes and fill out a problem solving log. After the 10 minutes are completed, the student must submit the completed problem solving log. ORANGE – Student will be asked to leave the class and go to another classroom where they will sit at the designated time-out area for 20 minutes and fill out a letter to their parents or guardians explaining their behavior. As a further consequence, a phone call will be made to the parent/guardian.

Colors (cont.) Red – Student will be referred to the office with official documents. Students have already attended an assembly on Code of Student Conduct and have been made aware of expectations in all areas of school.

Student of the Month There will be one positive character trait chosen each month A student will be nominated for demonstrating this character trait Ex: kind, honest, generous

Student Responsibilities Organization Time management (home & school) Ask questions Accept consequences with a mature attitude Be positive role models for peers Follow all PBIS expectations

How Can You Help? Interact daily with your child about his/her day in school. Check agenda book & homework. Call us or with any concerns and positive feedback.
