Industrialization in the 19th Century

Essential Question How did industrialization change American life in the 19 th century?

Industrialization The development of large scale, industrial production. The change in social and economic organization based on industry. The replacement of the means of production from hand tools to machines.

Urbanization One of the effects of industrialization. The movement of people from the country to cities. Economic opportunity in cities caused urbanization.

Problems of Urbanization Lack of adequate and safe housing. Transportation Water Sanitation Fire Crime

Immigration Industrialization brought people from all over the world to the U.S. for economic opportunities. Immigrants came from Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Push and Pull factors of immigration.
