Causes of human relocation through the world.

 Human migration is the movement by people from one place to another with the intentions of settling temporarily or permanently in the new location. The movement is typically over long distances and from one country to another, but internal migration is also possible.

 Early humans were nomads, they followed the great herds of animals they hunted to survive. Groups of them crossed the Straight of Bering following the mammoth herds. Mammoth were the main source of food. Their skins and bones were used to make clothing, weapons and tools.

 These groups moved from Europe and Asia and entered the Americas. Over a period of approximately 15,000 years, they populated North and South America.

 During the late 1400s. the Spaniard “discovered the new world” and started a process of conquest and colonization, impose their costumes and ways of life, over the native populations. They were soon followed by the British, French and Portuguese. This process brought millions of Europeans to the new world.

 The need for “cheap labor force ” to move the engines of the Americas' economic systems brought the enslavement of Africans. Between 1525 and 1866 approximately 12.5 million Africans were shipped to the New World.

 The opening of the American West brought as a consequence a great migration of people. Citizens from the central and eastern cities of the USA moved to the West in search of land and better opportunities. People from other countries came in large numbers to work on the railroad construction projects and in search of gold.

 During the mid and late 1800s., Europe went through a series of political and economical upheaval that forced people to move to the America.  This people fled form political and religious oppression and in search of better life conditions.

 In the past and current century people from all parts of the world have been forced to moved due to wars, political repression and lack of economical opportunities. Many of this immigrants have come to the USA looking for refuge.

 There are a number of reasons why people choose to migrate. Generally people moved from impoverished developing countries to obtain sufficient income for survival. People also move or are forced to move as a result of conflict, human rights violations, violence, or to escape persecution. Others were kidnapped and transported by force.
