‘Go e-sussex’ For a better broadband across East Sussex April 2013

Broadband Agenda UK Government’s Aim: To ensure this country has the best Superfast Broadband in Europe by the end of this parliament (2015) The EU ‘Digital Agenda’ : 100% coverage of > 30Mbps (2020 )

How that will happen Private sector investment – BT Openreach, Virgin Media et al Public Sector subsidy – BDUK £10.64m, matched locally by £15m

What the Public Funding is for This funding only applies to those areas not covered by current private telecoms investment plans This funding is to upgrade 90% of the county to superfast broadband by 2015 This funding is to ensure that everyone in East Sussex can get the basic level of internet service of 2mbps by 2015

What we have been up to Submitted our Local Broadband Plan Formally engaged with the market – to refine our data and understand their plans – To consult the market on our draft intervention areas We have issued our Invitation to Tender (ITT) to the bidders (BT and Fujitsu) and are now in procurement stage
