BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS 2 PRIMARY EXPECTATIONS 1. Time spent in ELA class will be used to improve your ability to communicate effectively in English. 2. COME TO CLASS DAILY 4. IF YOU ARE ABSENT CHECK OUT THE DAILY NOTES CHECK THE HANDOUT FOLDER BY THE DOOR TALK TO MRS. SAUNDERS BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL OR DURING ADVISORY 5. IF YOU FINISH AN ASSIGNMENT IN CLASS EARLY, YOU MUST READ FROM YOUR INDEPENDENT READING BOOK OR WORK ON AN ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT. YOU MAY NOT TALK DRAW DO WORK FROM ANOTHER CLASS 2. ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS: MUST HAVE AN MLA HEADING BE DONE IN BLACK OR DARK BLUE INK BE LEGIBLE TURNED IN ON TIME.

PROCEDURES & BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS CONTINUED CELL PHONES : I should not see or hear your phone or tablet unless you have asked & received permission to read an e-book. There may be days when permission will be given to listen to your own music with ear phones, but those will be announced specifically. Leaving the classroom: you must have permission to leave the classroom to use the restroom, retrieve things from your locker etc. This should be a rare occurrence. To keep it rare, I will be keeping track of those who use the “Vests of freedom” and uses are limited to twice in a quarter. Always Assume: That answers should be written in complete sentences and that spelling matters. NO NAME PAPERS: I do not post assignments submitted without a name. If you submit a nameless assignment and yours is the only one without a name then you are in luck. If it isn’t obvious whose assignment is nameless, then the assignment will be held. If you notice your assignment is listed as missing in the gradebook you should come speak with me after school. Retakes: except in special circumstances no RETAKES will be offered. Extra Credit Assignments are not available, although occasionally there will be opportunities to earn more than 100% on specifically noted assignments. LATE WORK will be scored using the 7 th Grade Late Work Policy: Work turned in on time will be given full credit earned. Work turned in late will given 75% of the credit earned Work turned in past the late credit cut off date will not earn credit. The cut off date is typically the Friday of the week following the due date, unless otherwise noted. EXTRA HELP NEEDED: if you need extra help with a concept or assignment, please make arrangements to meet with me after school. Be aware that you will need to set it up ahead of time, so that I can adjust my schedule and responsibilities after school. LAST MINUTE HELP: Please do not wait until the day before an assignment is due, or worse yet, the day it is due to ask for help. VACATIONS/Extended Absences during school: Check the daily notes regularly to stay caught up. It is difficult to give you work ahead of time, as what we do in class is determined by the day to day needs of the students. Although I know the direction we are heading, my plans are altered daily to meet my student’s needs. CHECK THE DAILY NOTES ON THE WEBSITE DAILY. The daily notes are posted every afternoon between 3:30 and 5:30 at In the case of my absence, students are expected to treat the substitute with respect. As 12 year olds, many of my students are considered responsible to take care of small children and I expect that they will be responsible to behave in a admirable manner with a sub, taking responsibility for their own learning. With that in mind, lessons left for a sub will be carefully laid out, and of benefit to my students.
