Causes of the Revolutionary War Patriots Vs. British

Causes of the Revolutionary War French and Indian War ( ) Ho oray! Great Britain wins the French and Indian War and her race for land in North America! The bad news is: War is EXPENSIVE. Great Britain in now in DEBT! Parliament voted to tax the Americans directly to pay back the cost of the French and Indian War.

Causes of the Revolutionary War Proclamation of 1763 The colonists could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation angered colonists who had hoped to move to the fertile Ohio River Valley.

Causes of the Revolutionary War Sugar Act (1764) This law placed a tax on sugar, molasses, wine, coffee, and other luxury items that were shipped to the colonies. It also called for strict enforcement of the act and harsh punishment of smugglers.

Causes of the Revolutionary War Quartering Act (1765) A cost-saving measure that required the colonies to quarter, or house, British soldiers where there were no barracks or soldier quarters. Colonists had to furnish the soldiers with transportation, candles, and cider. They even had to wash the soldiers' clothes! I don't know if I have room in my home!

Causes of the Revolutionary War Stamp Act (1765) Tax on paper products. This law required colonists to buy stamps and put them on legal documents such as wills, deeds, and marriage licenses. Other items that were taxed included newspapers and playing cards.
