F ITNESS AND HOW IT WORKS By Phoebe Why do we need to do exercise? Fact 1 Fact 2 Fact 3

W HY DO WE NEED TO DO E XERCISE ? We exercise all the time without even thinking of it. Just being active, like when you run around outside or participate in a sport at school with your friends it is a kind of exercise. Your heart is a muscle. By doing exercise, keeping. you can help this important muscle get stronger. So you want to do some exercise right now? Try swimming, basketball, hockey, netball, skating, rugby, cross-country running, skiing, biking, or scootering around DB. Almost everything is some type of exercise! Even working at school is mental exercise!

F ACT 1 Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of physical activity and has a healthy weight. If you're fit, your body works well, feels good, and can do all the things you want to do, like run around with your friends. Some steps only parents can take such as serving healthy meals or deciding to take the family on a nature hike. But kids can take charge, too, when it comes to health and fitness.

F ACT 2 If you are going to be fit, you need to keep fit, so that means avoiding injuries, from the Kids health website, here a five ways to avoid them. Wear protective gear, such as helmets, protective pads, and other gear. Warm up and cool down. Know the rules of the game. Watch out for others. Don't play when you're injured. So, if you try and follow these, chances are, you won’t get injured as much!

F ACT 3 More from the Kids health website, here is some reasons to stay fit and play sports! Playing sports is a great way to have fun and stay fit. And anyone who has played sports knows that you have to pay some extra attention to your health. If you play team sports, you may have had a sports physical. A sports physical is a visit to the doctor to make sure you're in good enough shape to play the sport you want to play. Sports physicals aren't just for kids. Even sports superstars need to go to the doctor to make sure they are healthy and strong before they hit the field.
