Simple Past Tense  How do we form the simple past tense for regular verbs?  Add –ed. Ex. brew + ed = brewed Ex. brew + ed = brewed Ex. resent + ed = resented Ex. resent + ed = resented I resented that you brewed the tea too long. I resented that you brewed the tea too long.  Add –d if the verb already ends in an –e. Ex. love + d = loved Ex. love + d = loved Ex. refuse + d = refused Ex. refuse + d = refused He refused to marry her because he loved someone else.
