USES OF THE PAST TENSE To talk about an activity that finished in the past. To express some ideas that happened in the past. To list some hobbies you did during your free time, besides, you are not doing them anymore. Examples: We played tennis last Sunday. I worked in London from 1984 to John left two minutes ago.

AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES

AUXILIARY DID We use the auxiliary DID when we are talking about the past tense, for the negative or interrogative statements. We use the same auxiliary DID for all the pronouns even if they are singular or plural. Example: you fish last week? We sleep last night DID DIDN´T

N E G A T I V E S E N T E N C E S To form the negative sentences, we use the same structure of the affirmative ones. We just use the short or long form of the auxiliary did in a negative way. Example: He walked. He didn’t walk. I did my homework. I didn’t do my homework. DID NOT SHE FOLLOW ME DIDN´T

QUESTIONS ? Did you go to work yesterday? Yes, I did. No, I didn’t
