 There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates. These classifications are:  Mammals  Fish  Reptiles  Birds  Amphibians

The Chameleon has certain characteristics that make it a reptile. Here are some of its attributes: Chameleons are cold blooded. They have dry, rough, scaly skin. They lay their eggs under dry ground. They breathe through lungs.

A Chameleon is a lizard that can change color. It changes color depending on the emotional level. They have a long tail and a long tongue. They could have a casque on their head, too. All Chameleons have Y shaped feet.

Chameleons live in Africa, Madagascar, Southern Europe, India, Sri Lanka, and Asia Minor. But, most live in Africa and Madagascar than the rest. When an animal moves to a different country, it will be an Introduced Species. But most live where there is lots of trees. That is so they can hide. Even some live in dry places!

The Chameleon’s diet is bugs (spiders, grasshoppers, crickets, locusts, caterpillars, moths, dragonflies, and other insects). The larger Chameleons add small birds, mice, and even other small lizards! Chameleons drink, too. They lick raindrops from trees.

Chameleons live alone, so what would it’s enemy be? It would be other Chameleons! It will fight the intruder. They could change into bright colors to scare their enemy. They can puff up and make hissing sounds, too. Sometimes a Chameleon will scratch and bite it’s enemy.

Hope you learned a lot about Chameleons! You could read a different book or go on a different website. You can do anything to learn about Chameleons! You could SAVE Chameleons, too. That will save approximately 95% of them!
