Homework & Agenda Homework will be assigned nightly, except for Fridays. All homework will be written in the Agenda and stamped by us. All upcoming tests & projects will be written in the Agenda. Please sign it each night.

Reading & Reading Log Each student will be given a reading level (Fountas & Pinnell Guided Reading). This level is marked in their Reading Log and will be updated as they move to new levels. Reading Workshop: each student is reading a book on their own level. We will conduct individual conferences with students to monitor this level, as well as strategy groups as needed. Please make sure your child reads nightly and records their reading in their Reading Log. We use this to track what they are reading and to set goals.

Writing Students will be writing daily. Genres:Narrative Opinion Informative/Explanatory

Spelling Students will be given a rule and practice words for the specific rule. These words are just practice words. The students are to learn the rule and are expected to apply it in any word that the rule is present. Red Words: Words that don’t follow any specific rule and need to be memorized. Students will be given a few new red words with each rule. Red words will be tested at random, not just for that week.

Math Information on Blog Please practice math facts nightly – even for just 5 minutes. Flash cards are old-fashioned, but a great way to practice quickly. There are many apps and computer games as well.

Science/Social Studies Interactive Journals Anything we do in class will be in your child’s interactive journal and they will be assessed on it. As we begin a new unit of study, your child will bring home his/her Journal to start studying a little each night. Blog
