2 Daily Schedule *Social Studies, Science, and Health are integrated into all areas of the curriculum 7:20 - 7:50Breakfast, Morning Activities, and Announcements 7:55 - 8:30Math Review and Practice (practice daily skills such as: calendar, counting, identifying shapes and colors) 8:35 - 9:20Enrichment (PE, Technology, Music, and Art) 9:30 – 10:15Guided Math (mini-lesson to present math skill or strategy, independent practice and math centers) 10:15-10:45Phonics and Handwriting 10:51 – 11:21Lunch 11:21 - 11:35Shared Reading 11:35 – 12:15Writer’s Workshop 12:15 – 1:00Reader’s Workshop 1:15 – 1:35Recess 1:35 – 1:45Snack/Restroom 1:45 - 2:15Rest time/Quiet Reading 2:15-2:20Review of Day’s Activities / Pack-up / Dismissal

3 Student Morning Responsibilities 1.Unpack book bag at seat 2.Turn in Communications folder and agenda to teacher. 3.Remove any money from folder and take to the vault. 4.Put snack in snack basket. Please send snack & lunch in separate bag/container. 5.Place book bag on your hook. 6.Begin morning work.

We practice the 7 Habits! 1.We listen and follow directions the 1 st time. 2.We raise our hand to share ideas. 3.We are kind to others 4.We work safely in the room. 5.We walk in school to be safe. 6.We keep our area neat. 7.We use our quiet inside voice.

8 Math Common Core Standards Math Quarterly Overview (posted on blog each quarter) Daily Math Review and Practice Guided Math

9 In Kindergarten we use Primary Phonics and Words Their Way for Phonics. We introduce letters of the alphabet and alphabet sounds. We practice manuscript handwriting based on Zaner- Bloser.

10 What is Writer’s Workshop? Opening mini-lesson Independent Writing Time Closing / Share Time 3 Genres of Writing (Narrative, Informational and Opinion).

11 Readers Workshop EVRC (Eastvalley Reading Club) Small group reading for differentiation Literacy Centers D.E.A.R. Time EVRC Books for Breakfast will be each 9 weeks. Don’t miss out!

13 Note: No homework in Kindergarten; however, we strongly encourage: Read daily with your child. Review sight words at least twice a week to ensure that your child knows his / her sight words. We have provided sight word flashcards to help with the review. We will introduce four to six sight words per week. Practice handwriting of letters and words. Practice math facts (e.g. counting 1 – 100, sorting and matching objects to a number).

18 One Healthy Snack Birthdays Birthdays will not be celebrated during instructional time. Please feel free to join your child for lunch and distribute cookies or cupcakes. Invitations may be passed out at school only if ALL children from our class are invited. Volunteers - We would love your help in the following Areas: Guest Readers – Volunteer Tutors to show flashcards, count, read one-on-one. Sorting pages from our math and phonics books. Room Rep(s), Art Print Donations – Saltines, goldfish, or pretzels for snack. Kinetic sand (plain, not colored) found at Michaels
