Happy New Year! 2012 Welcome to Mrs. Papadopoulos’ Grades 1 and 2 Classroom

What is expected of me? Here are our classroom rules. It as easy as 1, 2, 3: The Big 3

Here is #1 1. Show respect to all.

Here’s #2 2. Make good decisions.

Here is #3 3. Be a problem solver.

Behavior Chart Green – great day Orange – warning time Yellow – time out at desk or recess time Red – call parents Take your color home everyday to show your parents.

Rewards 1. Tickets – follow the Big 3 and collect lots of tickets = treasure chest on Friday Name on your ticket and put it on jar. 2. Table Points - treasure chest or privileges or free homework passes 3. Class Points (25) = popcorn and movie!

Bathroom Procedures Quietly raise a crossed finger to me to use the bathroom. Take the bathroom pass with you. You will only be given 2 minutes.

When You Need help: Quietly raise your hand. Wait for me to call your name.

How We Line Up Teacher’s Helper/Line Leader Door Monitor Light Monitor Tables or rows sitting quietly

Name on your paper, first thing. Where you gonna put it? At the top. MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON YOUR PAPER.

Where do I put my completed work when done? Place in the Work Basket.

Classroom Supplies Community box is filled with supplies. Pencil Monitor may get supplies from teacher.

Pledge Stand and face the flag with your right hand on your heart. Show respect and do not talk other than saying the pledge.

Finished Early We are always learning.

Now what do I do?” Read, Read Always have 3 to 5 books at your desk. Practice makes perfect!

Now what do I do? Math Read time Practice math facts Add and subtract

Now what do I do? Write  in your journal.  vocabulary words in sentences.  a friendly letter.

Homework Policy 1. Math every night. 2. Weekly reading, spelling, writing, and fun projects too.

Jobs Every Friday we will choose jobs. First – Star Student Second – most table points

Job Titles 1. Teacher’s helper/line leader 2. Pencil monitor 3. Librarian 4. Custodian 5. Door monitor 6. Light monitor 7. Time keeper 8. Mail Carrier

Class Library Monday – classroom library time. Shop for 4 to 5 books for the week. Friday – return books Librarian Helper
