Introduction The objective of this lesson: −You [teachers] will set up student access to CAHSEE Revolution Prep and be able to write a lesson plan [job aid] to instruct students on the process of navigating to and accessing the CAHSEE Revolution Prep website. After this training you will know how to: −Access the CAHSEE Revolution Prep website and create a mock student using a predefined user name and password. −Enter data as if you were a student. −Set up a mock student account and enter scores for your mock student. −Create a mock math and ELA mentor session. −Navigate to your classroom page and view the students’ user names and passwords. −Assign and remove user IDs and passwords for students from your classroom page. −Write your own job aid to instruct students on how to use the CAHSEE Revolution Prep website.

Overview Students who are having a lot of difficulty passing the CAHSEE need alternative methods to studying (some of them may have never studied for this test). The CAHSEE Revolution Prep Website can help them to learn the material that will be presented on the examination. CAHSEE Revolution Prep is very user friendly. Students can use the program at school or on any computer with Internet access. “What’s in it for me,” you ask? The program will generate reports after students complete Mentor Sessions. These reports will give you specific data to help your students. The data that is generated will help you build your lesson plans and assign homework.

Lesson Plan 3 – Instructor Outline Play the video on the LCD projector. Pass out Teacher Job Aid handout, student reports, and mock user IDs and passwords to each teacher in the training. Pass out note pads. Introduce CAHSEE Revolution Prep and what it can do to help students prepare for the CAHSEE. On the LCD projector, show the different screens and how to access them. Begin with the Teacher Tab and move to the Site Tab, Mentor Tab, Homework Tab, and Registration Tab. (Have teachers take detailed notes). [Keep in mind that teachers have had prior training – Lessons 1 and 2] Using the Teacher Job Aid as a guide, have teachers set up a mock student. Check to see that teachers are able to complete this task. Assist those that are not able to complete the task on their own. Independent practice: give teachers time to practice taking a Mentor Session. Walk around the class to answer any questions that they might have. Using the LCD projector, walk teachers through the process of accessing user IDs and passwords. Show them how to access reports (follow Teacher Job Aids). Review the PDF pre-test, reports and other teacher materials available from the website. Independent practice: using the Teacher Job Aids and the CAHSEE Revolution Prep website, have teachers work in pairs to create a lesson plan for their students. Check lesson plans for accuracy. Students should be able to use the lesson plan created as a job aid to utilize the CAHSEE Revolution Prep website. Support teachers by giving them time to ask questions about the system. Request feedback about the training.
