Human Anatomy & Physiology Course Expectations Ms. Patricia Boghos-Frangie Room 3 ( ) ges/pboghos (class website ) A full version of the course expectations are found on the class website You must printout the last page. You and your parents will have to sign it, stating that you have read it. You are required to return it signed by Friday, 9/11/15 2

B EHAVIOR … A LL I ASK IS THAT YOU BE RESPECTFUL RESPECT yourself, your classmates, and the teacher. What does this mean? Come to class prepared, on time, and with a positive attitude. Do not pack up early Keep your hands, feet, and inappropriate comments to yourself. Be honest and trustworthy. Be clean and safe in class. Don’t write on desks! 3

S OME S CHOOL R ULES No food or drink in class Except bottled water No cell phones, headphones, IPODS, or other electronics (besides a calculator) Other school rules can be found in your student planner 4

C ONSEQUENCES If you choose to break a rule or do not follow procedures, the following consequences may be initiated: Verbal warning Student/Teacher conference A phone call home ( random Fridays ) Teacher detention Dean referral Any time I need to enforce these rules, you will lose participation points, depending on the severity of the behavior. 5

G RADES  Quarter Grades will weighted as follows- Tests /Quizzes 60% Assignments/Homework 15% Participation 5% Labs/Projects20% Total 100%  Semester Grades will be weighted as follows- Quarter 1 = 40% Quarter 2 = 40% Semester Exam = 20% Total for Semester: 100% 6

G RADES DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT YOUR GRADE DURING CLASS!! I will give grades before/after school or during 6 th period lunch. I will also try to post grades at least once a week and after each test/quiz. You can also check “Power School”. It is updated on a daily basis. 7

P ARTICIPATION P OINTS Each quarter, you will start with 400 points. Not doing your QOD results in -5 points Tardiness or class disruptions will result in a -5 points. Bad Behavior, like class disruptions, not doing your work, or sleeping result in a loss of points- the teacher decides how many 8

L ECTURE N OTES Notes are an important part of biology honors class. It is imperative that you develop an effective way to take notes. I will periodically do note checks. I will be making sure you have notes and that they are COMPLETED. If you are absent, don’t forget to get the notes you miss. You can access notes on the class website. 9

QOD (Q UESTION OF THE D AY ) QODs are extremely important, they are concepts from the unit of study. The questions taken directly from the test. At the beginning of class, you are expected to start the QOD You must write the QOD in your notebook (on a QOD sheet that will be provided for you) I will do random QOD checks. If you are not doing your QOD, you will lose participation points. 10

C LASSWORK /H OMEWORK You will have classwork daily You will have homework at least three times a week. Including an on-line quiz for each unit. All assignments must have the same heading- Name and Period LATE WORK will not be accepted. 11

M AKE -U P A SSIGNMENTS Check the calendar in the back You can also check online If you are absent, you must turn in your makeup work within 3 days of your return Prearranged work is due the day a student returns from a prearranged absence. 12
