Class Description Our class is about to begin an exciting year of mathematics. Some of the topics we will study include negative numbers, exponents, three-dimensional geometry, and probability. Throughout the year you will also develop and improve your skills in algebra. 10/23/2015

Grading Your overall grades for this class will be based on the categories listed below. Your math average as well as your grades will be available for you to view online at Homework Notebook Tests / Quizzes Projects Class Participation/Conduct 10/23/2015

Homework Written Assignments Your homework assignments will either be collected or reviewed in class. In order to receive full credit for your homework, you must write the problem and the solution. Each homework assignment is graded and you are expected to complete every assignment. If you are absent, you have one day to make up your homework. The assignments will be listed on the class website. 10/23/2015

Homework Online Assignments During the school year you will have several math assignments and tests that you will need to complete on a computer with internet access. If you do not have internet access at home, you may use the school computers during lunch or after school. It is important for you to remember your usernames and passwords in order to access some of these sites. DO NOT SHARE YOUR USERNAME OR PASSWORDS WITH OTHER STUDENTS. 10/23/2015

Homework Vocabulary Ring You will keep a ‘math vocabulary ring’ that will be graded and averaged into your homework grade. Each completed vocabulary card must include the vocabulary word on the front and the definition, problem and solution on the back. 10/23/2015

Notebook Math Section in your Binder You are expected to have a math section in your school binder. This section will be graded every quarter. It should be organized and include your classwork, homework and worksheets. 10/23/2015

Test/Quizzes If you are absent during a test or quiz, you must take it on the day that you return. If you do not make up the test/quiz, a 0 will be averaged in to your overall grade 10/23/2015

Participation/Conduct Treat me and your classmates with respect. If your behavior is inappropriate, I will communicate this to your parents/guardians immediately. You will receive a conduct grade on your report card for each quarter. Unsatisfactory grades will prevent you from attending school trips and celebrations. Excellent behavior will be acknowledged and rewarded throughout the school year in the form of prizes, certificates, trips, class parties etc. 10/23/2015

Classroom Policies/ Procedures Absences If you are absent, you are expected to submit a note from your parent/guardian on the day you return. You must make up any work that you have missed during your absence. 10/23/2015
