What is “eating insects”? (It’s the object of the preposition.)

It’s the TYPE of phrase acting as an object of the preposition: After washing clothes for hours, Mrs. Ash spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful weather.

What is a gerund phrase? (“washing clothes for hours”)

It’s the word modified by the infinitive phrase: To encourage her students’ participation, Mrs. Ash made this most awesome Jeopardy! game.

What is made? (“To encourage her students’ participation” tells why she “made” the most awesome game.)

It’s the number of verbal phrases in the following sentence: Excited about football season, Mrs. Ash invited her family to her house to enjoy a tailgate.

What is two? “Excited about football season” is a participial phrase. “to enjoy a tailgate” is an infinitive phrase.

It’s the infinitive phrase acting as the subject. To many people, Glee is the best new show on television, and to watch the show is mandatory.
