Welcome to Chemistry Class!  Find your name on the brown clipboard near the entry door. Put a check mark by your name.  Find your seat number. This is your assigned seat until further notice.  Take an index card from the basket. Write on it what your definition of chemistry is.  Turn this in to your class drawer before you leave.  You may use your phone to sign up for Remind 101

About Mrs. Soisson  Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland, Chemical Engineering  Master of Science from University of Houston (Clear Lake), Environmental Mgmt.  Hobbies: Music, family, and vacations!  Most of my time revolves around my kids activities: Christina – Freshman biology major at UT-Austin Patrick – Junior at Lake (Band) Teresa – Junior at Lake (Cross Country) Samuel – 6 th Grade (Competitive Gymnastics, Band)

Handouts (You Should Have Two)  Remind 101 instructions  Welcome Letter/Course Syllabus  Required Materials EVERYDAY!! 1 composition notebook for each semester (Need for this Friday!) Charged up laptop or BYOD if you opt out. Cell phones are not an appropriate device. Calculator (needs to perform Scientific Notation) if desired. You can also download the “Wabbit” software to install our classroom calculators on your laptop. Will use in class and you can use at home. Pen/Pencil and highlighters (four different colors). Glue Stick or tape dispenser for inserting papers into notebook.

Classroom Rules Rules 1.) Be On Time! 2.) Be prepared and actively participating! 3.) Do your own work. Academic Integrity is required. Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated! 4.) Mutual respect among all (we are a class family!) 5.) Computers and BYOD are only to be used when prior permission has been given! Cell phones never seen in this class! Look for Tech sign showing use of technology each day to know whether or not we will be using it *All School Rules will be enforced, see your handbook if you are confused on any school rule

Consequences  Located below each rule.  Take a moment to read them.  My expectation is to NOT need them!  Clear Springs students are amazing!!!!!!!!!!

 Absences  Late Work – Strictly ENFORCED!  On-line textbooks  Homework  Lab grades and make-up labs

Classroom Procedures Do behave safely at all times in the lab. (SAFETY IS THE #1 PRIORITY!) Do check the website each week and when absent. Do be in your assigned seat with all necessary materials on your desk working on your bell work before the bell rings. Do wait to be dismissed from class by your teacher. Do respect the classroom supplies and equipment and CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. Do use restroom before class. For emergencies, use one of your bathroom passes and sign out on clipboard. More about this later in week. Do put your name, period, and seat number on all papers.

Classroom Procedures (Continued)  Do follow the 3-before-me rule. Ask 3 friends before asking me.  Do bring your laptop (or BYOD device for those that opt out) to class everyday. Only use with permission. (Look for sign) Cell phones are not acceptable BYOD as per Ms. Love.  Do check the folders for make up work when you are absent.  Do turn in all papers to the appropriate drawer for your class period.  Do record acts of service in Service Logbook for extra credit.
