Preparation Check personal examination Timetable Read carefully the ‘Notice to Candidates’ and ‘Extract from Noadswood Exams Policy’ on studentshare and website Learn candidate number and centre number Note time, venue and seat number for each exam Organise equipment

Equipment Black ink pens Calculator (if allowed for paper) –Nothing stored –No instructions Ruler, compasses, protractor, etc Spare pens and pencils Pencil case must be see-through

Not Allowed MP3, mobile phone, iPod, personal stereo Any printed or written sheets Tippex

On the day … Use toilet before if appropriate Arrive 10 minutes before start time Wait calmly and quietly in courtyard outside Sports Hall or in Small Dining Room On entry, no talking until back outside after exam Leave bag, etc., at back of room, with phone – turned off and no alarm set Find seat and sit down

During the exam Do use black ink pen Do fill in the details on the front of the paper Do check and follow instructions Do NOT disturb or distract other candidates Do NOT turn to the side or look behind Do NOT communicate with other candidates

After the exam Fasten together any extra sheets/booklets Exam conditions continue until you are back outside Wait while papers are collected Leave only when told by invigilator Do not remove any stationery or rough work from exam

During the exam, what if … Your pen runs out? You need more paper? You think you may have the wrong paper? You feel unwell? You drop something? Put up your hand

What should I do if … I am late for the start? –Come anyway, via Sports Hall main entrance –Wait for an invigilator I am ill on the day and cannot attend an external exam? –Contact Mr Pain asap I sit an external exam, but feel unwell and think it may have affected my performance? –Tell an invigilator, then see Mr Pain asap

What if I break the rules? Invigilator will report to the exam board For a minor infringement –Your paper will probably be cancelled For a more serious infringement –You will not be awarded a grade for the subject in which you broke the rules For the most serious infringements –You will lose your grades in all subjects

Why so strict? To protect the security of the exam To ensure that the qualification is respected by colleges and employers To give you and the other candidates every chance to do your best
