1 Lower Sixth Pre Examinations Meeting 20 April 2016

3 Rules & Regulations Make sure you know the Rules Read the Regulations Follow the Examination Procedures Obey the School Code of Conduct why? ….because malpractice - directly affects your Performance and your Grades - directly affects your friends in the same exam room - directly affects our School operating as an Examining Centre

4 Rules & Regulations You must not take any unauthorised materials into the exam room: –Revision Notes –Calculator cases/instruction leaflets –Bags –Personal TV/stereos/MP3 Players/iPods etc –Communication devices, eg mobile phones –EMPTY YOUR POCKETS! Leave these possessions in your locker or at home Remember to turn off your watch alarm

5 NO iPODS, iWatches, Mobile Phones, MP3/4 PLAYERS No Potential Technological/Web Enabled Sources of Information Possession of unauthorised items, such as a mobile phone, is a serious offence and could result in DISQUALIFICATION from your examination and overall qualification. Candidates are advised that mobile phones in particular should not be in their possession whether or not switched on. DO NOT TAKE THE RISK.

6 Be there and be on time Check your Timetable carefully Know the dates and times of your exams (including if they are AM or PM sessions!) If applicable, plan your Supervised Break time Arrive at least ten minutes before the start of each exam If you arrive late, and the exam has started, report to the Main Office or a member of staff If you arrive after the exam has ended, you will not be allowed to take it

7 Bring only what you need Remember to bring the equipment you need Check you have the right calculator with new batteries and that you have CLEARED THE MEMORY Do not use correcting fluid / pens (tippex) Write in black ink or black ballpoint pen, Only use coloured pencils/inks for diagrams, maps, charts, etc Do not borrow from another candidate Leave anything you do not need in your locker or at home

9 Exam instructions Take your place quickly and IN SILENCE Desk labels, in candidate number / alphabetical order will indicate where you have to sit. Staff will help you to find your seat Examination Rules begin as soon as you enter the Hall Listen to the invigilator for instructions Tell the invigilator at once: –if you do not have the right question paper –if the question paper is incomplete or badly printed. Read and follow the instructions carefully

10 Fill in Your Details -Use Black ink -Complete the front sheet carefully -Write in CAPITAL LETTERS -Write only in the white spaces -Sign the booklet Inside the Answer Booklet -Do not write in the margin -Write your Question Numbers in the box alongside the start of your answer -Leave two lines between each question answered -Do all rough work in the booklet. Cross through anything not to be marked

11 Advice and assistance Put up your hand, if: –you have a problem –you feel ill –you need more paper –you need a treasury tag (to fasten papers/booklets together) Do not ask for any explanation of the questions Please be patient when waiting for an invigilator to arrive

12 The end of the exam Stop writing as soon as you are told and put your pen down. If you have used two or more booklets, fasten them together with the tag provided Check the front pages of each booklet used before you hand it in Take with you, empty ink cartridges, pencil shavings Do not take spare paper, question papers etc from the exam room Do not talk or turn around when the exam has ended. Remember Exam rules apply while you are in the hall. Do not stand up or leave the exam room until the invigilator tells you to EXIT THE HALL IN SILENCE AS OTHERS MAY BE WORKING

13 Remember..! Be Careful and look after yourself! Let the Exams Office or your Tutor know if you are ill on the day Check & know your timetable Read the Rules & Regulations you have been given Results – can be collected from School Thurs 18 August 2.00 – 4.00 Post Results Services – details will be available on results day If you have any questions or concerns, please see me in the Examinations Office Good Luck !
