Types of plants—Non vascular 1. Bryophytes—Mosses, liverworts, hornworts. --Reproduction only in water --No vascular tissue --draw water only by osmosis Vascular tissue

2. Seedless Vascular plants —ferns and their relatives --Reproduce using spores --Have vascular tissue to transport food and water --Xylem-moves water through the plant --Phloem-moves food through the plant spores Xylem and phloem

Microscope break… At this point, you will use the microscopes to look at a cross section of a fern leaf, which includes the sorus, which is the spore producing part of a fern leaf. You will then look at a fern gametophyte (prothallium). Sketch each on low power and we will label when done.
