Recommendations/ Consulting Consulting is a major piece to our SEO product. As a DMA you are the client’s resource for best practices, updates on major algorithm updates, and any other question under the sun. In this session we will cover: Local Citations (google +, yahoo local, yelp, etc) Site design and page optimization Best practice and curation of backlink profile Algorithm Updates

Local Citations The most important thing to stress and explain to dealers about local citations is NAP consistency. Name Address Phone Number, this should be the same across all local citations (dealers will often use different number to try and count leads) Run through an example of: Google + Local Yahoo/ Bing Local Yelp Unrelated but important: Youtube best practices

Site Design / Optimization How a site is laid out affects how users navigate and find what they’re looking for. We use In-Page analytics and crazyegg (for some clients) to determine button position, navigation layout, and overall site design. We also use visitor flow to look at what pages are creating the highest bounce rate and analyze those pages to find weaknesses. What we’re looking for is user interaction, buttons that receive more clicks, content being viewed below the fold, chats being closed out etc.

Backlink Profile Every site has a unique backlink profile made up of local and national links that give it authority. Local affiliations: Does the dealer contribute to any charities? Do they sponsor youth sports like a little league team? Are there local businesses that affiliate themselves with the dealership? National affiliations: Does the dealer work with a nationally charity (march of dimes, relay for life etc)? Are they reciving a link from their make’s OEM site (toyota.com, jeep.com etc)? The goal here is to only go after high quality relevant links. Don’t get links from: link directories, irrelevant businesses, never pay for a link, reciprocal linking, basically any link that could not occur naturally.

Algorithm Updates I personally track and follow any major changes to Google’s algorithm and will send you updates with any need to know information. Because everything we do here is relatively white hat very rarely does an algo update cause any problems. Just remember we are not the first (or sometimes only) company helping the dealer with their SEO. Dealers hire link building companies, have SEO that’s native to the provider, and sometimes even hire two SEO companies to work simultaneously. Be mindful that other companies don’t always use best practices so when major updates drop do a thorough check. Go over Penguin, Panda, and Hummingbird.
