Welcome to 5 th Grade!! Dear Families, I am thrilled about working with you and your child this year. I think of our classroom as not just a classroom but a community that includes the students, families, teachers, and administrators. In our community, we learn to care about each other and work together. Our community celebrates every member of the group. I am committed to keeping in contact with you throughout the year because you are the most important people in your child’s life. You are welcome in our community whenever you would like to visit. Class Pledge I promise to be the best person I can. I pledge to give my best at all times. I pledge to do what I am asked to do and I will learn from my mistakes. I will build peace at home, at school, and in my community each day.

Class Expectations Follow all classroom and school procedures. Come to class prepared at all times. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Leave your worries at the door and enter with a positive attitude. Remember the 3 Rs: Respectful + Resourceful + Responsible = Good Behavior.

A Little Bit About Mrs. Rushing I am starting my 5 th year of teaching this year. I have taught 4th grade here at Holt for 3 years and 5 th grade last year. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama in December 2004 and my Masters in Collaborative K- 6 Special Education in May On a personal note, I am married to Brandon Rushing and we will have our 2 year anniversary on November 17. I have two brothers who are both married and two brother-in-laws and in December I will be an aunt to my oldest brother’s first child; a little girl! I have two dogs Ginger and Roxy and we are also taking care of my brother-in-laws dog Chuck. I love spending time outside riding four-wheeler's, swimming, and hunting. I also like to workout at the gym and play sports.
