Hello Parents! The beginning of the school year is just around the corner on August 11th and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher. I am very excited to get the year started as this is my first year of teaching. I want to take this opportunity to share with you my enthusiasm and optimism about the upcoming year. But first, I would like to share a little bit about myself, with you! I grew up in Sterling, Nebraska, a small rural southeast Nebraska town. I recently moved to the Crofton area in July and I will be working to learn my way around town! I am one of three children. I have two younger sisters and a wonderful mother and father whom I love spending time with. I graduated with honors from Doane College in May, and during the summer I continued my education by completing a third of my Master’s Degree. A focus of my professional growth this summer centered upon preparing for the arrival of your child. I can’t imagine a better grade to begin my teaching career. My hope for this year is to create a classroom community where all students feel safe and valued. I believe it is within this kind of environment that children can be successful. To further ensure each child’s success, I will use a variety of teaching strategies in the classroom to meet individual needs. I am excited to get students actively involved in their learning and see what discoveries we can make together. I also believe teachers and parents are partners in a child’s education. As such, I will keep you up-to-date on what is happening in our classroom with our weekly newsletter. In our classroom newsletter you will find opportunities to be involved- I encourage you to be involved! Your first opportunity to be involved is by completing the attached survey. I would like you to send it to school with your child. This survey will assist me in getting to know your child. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey; it helps me so much! Also, on Monday August 10th from 5:30-7pm, we have an Open House. I encourage you to come- it will be a great opportunity for us to meet! Here you will obtain information about what your child will be learning this year. I can’t wait to see you there! Throughout the year, my door is always open- you are welcome to our classroom. During volleyball season, as the assistant high school volleyball coach, I will not be available for very long after school due to practice. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to call me at anytime (see below). I will always have an ear ready for you! I’m passionate about teaching and about showing your child how to succeed. I want to see your child GROW! Thank you so much for your support this year. I look forward to this school year and the chance to work with you and your child! Educationally yours, Crofton Elementary School (402)
