JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS (1) Earn a total of 225 credits (2) Pass specific subject requirements (3) Pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

GRADUATION CREDIT REQUIREMENTS Seniors in good academic standing have 180 credits to date Minimum number of credits required for senior status is 165 Letters will be mailed home in September to seniors not on track for graduation Call counselor to schedule appointment

OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE UP CREDIT OR SUBJECT DEFICIENCIES APEX classes after school Concurrent enrollment at a community college Fall classes started Spring schedule will be available in November

CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL EXIT EXAM (CAHSEE) Test dates for Seniors October 7 th (English) & October 8 th (Math) November 4 th (English) & November 5 th (Math) March 17 th (English) & March 18 th (Math) Tutoring is available for the CAHSEE through CEI’s after school CAHSEE Prep Course, M-F from 3:15-5:15 p.m. in Rm. B119. Students who do not pass the CAHSEE, but meet all other graduation requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion instead of a high school diploma.

Students must have above the minimum for impacted campuses

SENIOR YEAR SAT & ACT TESTING All SAT and ACT tests must be completed by December of Senior year Impacted CSU campuses prefer that students complete testing by October test dates Students must send scores directly from testing agency to colleges- use 3594 for CSU, choose at least 1 UC Campus Student athletes must also send scores to the NCAA Clearinghouse CSU’s will use highest SAT Critical Reading & Math Scores or ACT score from multiple sittings UC’s will use highest combined SAT or ACT with Writing score from a single sitting

APPLYING TO PRIVATE COLLEGES Private colleges use their own application for admission or the Common Application For a listing of the private colleges that use the Common Application: Check with college to determine if supplemental forms are required Make note of application deadlines- will vary by college Application Fees vary by college Personal statement/essay usually required Letters of Recommendations usually required

STUDENT ATHLETES If you are planning to play sports at a Division I or Division II college, you must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse ASAP FEE: $75 Fee waivers available to students on the subsidized lunch program, please see VPG Make contact with coach at college campus to make sure you are on track

COLLEGE HOUSING Apply for Housing EARLY!! (Check for Housing Application Deadline NOW) FAILURE TO MEET DEADLINE = NO HOUSING Check Housing Policy * Many colleges require that freshmen to live on campus * Not all colleges guarantee housing for freshmen

APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS On the job training Most programs are 3-5 years in length Starting wages $9-$14/hour; $35/hour and up once journeyman status is reached Requirements 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent Pass qualifying test and interview Complete required prerequisite classes

FINANCIAL AID ALL students should apply for financial aid regardless of whether or not they think they will qualify Students must file 2 forms (1) Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) OR California Dream Act Application (not a citizen or eligible noncitizen) (2) Cal Grant GPA verification form FILING PERIOD January 1 st - March 2 nd Many Private Colleges require CSS Profile (check deadlines)
