2 Timeline for College Planning
JUNIOR YEAR Now until August Register and Prepare for the ACT & SAT Tests ACT: *The state funded ACT will be given one school day in the end of February. Students will complete ACT prep in Financial Literacy SAT: Identify Important Factors - Two or Four-Year College, Major, Cost, Size, Location, Atmosphere List Colleges You are Considering and Start Collecting Information- Request a Viewbook, Information about Scholarships, ACT, SAT & GPA Requirements online

3 Begin Writing - Personal Statement, Resume and/or General Essays for Scholarships
Keep a List of All Awards You Received During High School Along with Volunteer Service (Including Hours) and Work History for College and Scholarship Applications Register for the NCAA Eligibility Center if Interested in Playing Division I or II Sports in College

4 Timeline for College Planning SENIOR YEAR
 August-December Meet with Your School Counselor to Discuss Credits for Graduation and College Register and Prepare for the ACT & SAT – Be Sure to Send Your Results to Your Top College Choices & NCAA Compare Colleges on Your List – Weigh Each College’s Pros and Cons, Schedule a Campus Interview, Tour & Overnight Visit All Seniors are Given 3 Excused College Visit Days

5 Start Applying to Your Top College Choices
BE AWARE OF DEADLINES! Most Early Decision & Early Action Applications are Due Between October 1 and November 1 Attend the LVHS Senior College Planning Night (after Fall Open House 2018) Attend College Fairs- Licking County College Fair in the spring Apply for Outside Scholarships Through the Counseling Office and websites like

6 FAFSA : Students will file their FAFSA beginning October 1, 2019, using 2018 tax information. Attend the Licking County Financial Aid Night (mid October 2018) FAFSA Deadlines Vary for Each College - Check with the Financial Aid Office at each college Apply for Financial Aid (FAFSA) by Registering at Continue to Apply for Outside Scholarships

7 January-May Many Rolling Admission Colleges Notify Students of Acceptance 2 Months After the Application Deadline Financial Aid Packages from Colleges are Typically Sent in February & March & Will Help Students Narrow their Decision & Plan for the Future Make any Last Minute Campus Visits & Make Your Final Decision – May 1 is the National Deadline to Notify a College you are Enrolling Fill Out the Senior Survey Indicating Where Your School Counselor Should Send an Official Transcript
