21 PRELIMINARY SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE EXAM (PSAT) PSAT tests Critical Reading, Writing, Math Purpose Help students prep for the SAT by familiarizing students with the testing environment and test content PSAT offered at TN on October 19 th Testing fee: $15 PSAT Results workshop will be held in January 2014 21

22 SAT vs. ACT SAT Critical Reading Writing Math Tests ability to reason with facts and concepts rather than the ability to recall and recite information ACT English Math Reading Science Test questions are more closely related to the high school curriculum 22

27 SAT/ACT RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that Juniors take the SAT Reasoning Test/ACT in March/April or May/June and take the SAT subject tests (for UC and Private Schools only) in June Students should take the SAT or ACT at least once in the Junior year and once in the fall of Senior year 27

30 EARLY ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (EAP) Tests college readiness in English & Math 11 th grade students will be encouraged to participate in the EAP this spring as part of the STAR testing Students will be asked to answer an additional 15 questions in English & write a 45-minute essay Students will also answer an additional 15 questions in Math Depending on scores, students may be waived from math and English placement testing. 30
