DAILY ENERGY NEEDED Each of us, depending on the job, sex, age and weight, needs to follow a diet that introduces a certain amount of the daily energy

AN EXAMPLE OF MEDITERRANEAN RECIPE FOR: PASTA E FAGIOLI THE EVENING BEFORE: Put 250 grams of beans in to water for the whole night THE DAY AFTER: Cook beans in water (for about 2 hours); In a pot put and fry together a yellow carrot, celery, onion and red pepper with olive oil for a few minutes; Put cooked beans in the pot with a part of cooking water (the amount of water should be enough for 4 people); In the same pot cook the pasta too (homemade pasta or rice. In alternative “modern” pens or noodles), adding a little bit of salt; Before serving pour some olive oil.

MEDITERRANEAN DIET The term “diet” defines the eating habits and organization of food rations over time. Following a diet means to draw maximum benefit in health and physical fitness from food. A diet is essentially a lifestyle, a dietary pattern that can be continued. Life long the food culture of a people is linked to the nature and the climate, traditions, social and economic conditions. The Mediterranean diet is not an abundance of bread and pasta. First the bread and the pasta is integral, and pasta, not only wheat but also various types of cereals. Meat is not much. Preference is given to white meat and blue fish. Few fats using mainly extra virgin olive oil. Many fresh fruit and vegetables, also nuts and wine. A special characteristic of the Mediterranean diet are “flat dishes” linking first and second. Some examples are pasta with meat sauce with the addition of cheese and extra virgin olive oil. More over, soups with vegetables, Napolitan pizza with anchovies, mozzarella and tomato, etc… The meal accompanied by a glass of wine, always concludes with a portion of vegetables and fresh fruit.

Good nutrition plays a key role, for a healthy life. Diets that deviate from the standards of science can bring serious consequences to health. These are felt even after months or years and hardly linked to a memory model wrong food (osteoporosis, digestive, diseases, kidney stones and gall bladder, hormonal imbalances).

DAYLY ONE-THREE TIMES A WEEK FREQUENCY WITH LESS INTEGRAL CEREALS: Bread and pasta of integral wheat, rice, corn, oats, rye, barley, buckwheat, potatoes, etc… VEGETABLES: Beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils, lupini, rape radishes, carrots, lettuce, spinach, chicory, cress, leeks, asparagus, fennels, beets, artichokes, cabbage, radishes, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, onions, etc… FRUIT: Apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, apricots, peaches, rapes, figs, watermelons, melons, raspberries, strawberries, chestnuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pine nuts, pistachios, etc… WHOLE MILK: Cow or goat cheese WINE ONE-THREE TIMES A WEEK MEAT: Mainly white, like chicken and turkeys. FISH: Predominantly blue like Anchovies, sardines, herrings, mackerels, spatulas, etc… FREQUENCY WITH LESS Sweets and Honey

English Project. Health problems and field work…

…Anorexia… The nervous anorexia is a trouble of the eating behavior characterized by the intense loss of weight, a huge and uncontrollable fear to fatten up, the complete loss of awareness of the real image of one’s own body, the disappearance of the menstruations (amenorrhoea) for at least three months following. The attention towards body and the obsession of weight become for the people (up to 95% affect women) the predominant motive for the day, every action is aimed at checking the abnormal hunger. The anorexia is an illness that can bring to death, in every case it brings to negative consequences: osteoporosi, renal insufficiency, cardiovascular alterations, loss of teeth and hair.

…Bulimia… Another illness tied to food disorder is the bulimia (literally "hunger from ox"). it apparently deals only with a pathology opposite to the anorexia, with which, in fact, it has a lot of analogies . The bulimia substantially consists in an uncontrollable necessity to ingest great quantities of food that then, is neutralized through behaviours addressed to prevent increases of weight. Unlike the anorexia, it can pass unnoticed because it doesn't influence the external aspect of the people.

…This is the story… I was 15 years old when I realized what was happening to me. Some years before I had started stopping eating because I felt different from the others, my parents were always arguing and they were about to split up. my friends were always talking about actresses, the girls were more beatiful and more appreciated than me. I started feeling fat, always bad and inperfect and i wanted to attract the attention, wanted to be a model. I think that it was also my mother’s fault, she was a beatiful woman. I wanted also to feel beatiful, thin, because I was always sad and my mother’s psychologycal pressures forced me to hide what I was eating. I was afraid of food, hunger, I was eating a lot then I vomited and then regret. It had become an obsession. I didn’t accept myself, I didn’t want to talk about this with my parents because I thought that they didn’t understand me. I realized I needed help but I didn’t want it. The brain and the stomach wanted food, but at the same time refused it. I went to hospital where I was given a precise diet and I had the help of psychologists. Today I speak to you because I hope that my story can be useful to someone.

…Imagine that speak alone…

How the media influence teenagers’ food choices On March 21 2007, a public and private Task Force on Media and Childhood Obesity was launched. The group, comprised of participants such as the American Academy of Pediatrics. American Society for Nutrition, Kellogg Company, McDonald’s, Sesame Workshop, Walt Disney Company, Discovery Channel and Parents Television Council –to name just a few- will meet throughout 2007 to examine the impact of media and advertising on children’s health and make recommendations regarding goals for public and private sectors to help to reduce childhood obesity. Kids today are bombarded with marketing everywhere they go. They see advertisements on the radio, TV and the Internet, in magazines, on school buses, and even in the classroom through news programs produced for schools. In fact, child-targeted advertisement exceeds $15 billion per year. Most of the food advertisements are for fast foods, breakfast cereals, snacks and candies that are high in sugar, salt and fat and nutritionally inadequate. DISCUSSION: There are many reasons for differences in height and weight: We hall have different body frames (size of bones, etc…). Our body frames are inherited, we cannot change them. Our bodies are made up of muscle, bone, blood, and fat. Each of this components have different weights and affect our weight and height. The ratios are different in each person. Wich one do you like best?

Zone diet The zone diet is a popular diet that looks to create healthy lifelong eating habits. One of the side benefits of the zone diet is weight loss in those who need it. If you try lose weight while eating a healthy, well balanced diet, you might want to look into the zone diet plan. What is The Zone Diet? What is the Zone Diet, you may be asking. The Zone diet became popular when its creator, Barry Sears, published the Zone Diet book. This book outlined an eating plan that balanced the ratio between protein and carbohydrate intake in the person's diet. Thus, Zone Diet recipes contain the proper balance of carbs and protein, making it a blessing to those who cannot stand the idea of going completely away from carbs. The term "Zone Diet" refers to the "zone," which is what Sears used to describe the proper balance of hormones in the human body. According to his theory, hormones like insulin, glucagons, and others, can be in the wrong balance if the wrong foods are eaten. When in "the Zone" the body has the perfect balance of these hormones. This eventually leads to the balance of the caloric intake in the body as well.Over time, significant weight loss occurs as the body stops storing fat and starts using the fat it has stored. Zone Diet Formula? The formula prescribed for Zone Diet menus is a ration of 40:30:30 for carbs, protein, and fats. The Zone Diet also calls for an intake, in the proper amounts, of Omega 3: Omega 6 fatty acids. When the ratio and the omega products are incorporated into a healthy lifestyle, the body comes in balance, and weight loss often occurs. How the Zone Diet Compares to Other Popular Diets ? Popular diets look very different from the Zone Diet. One popular diet idea is to have a low-fat lifestyle for your diet.According to the book, eating a completely low fat diet actually leads to the body storing more fat. This is because the human body produces insulin. This hormone leads to more fat storage.

How do you feel with your body? Since I was a child I never thought of my weight problem, but when I grew up, I began to be interested in my physical form and I started also to follow a right diet. Personally, I never follow a proper diet, but I keep fit practicing a lot of movement. I feel good with my body and I don’t think that I have great weight problems because I follow a proper daily nutrition. I think the main meal is breakfast because provides the necessary energy for the day.
