Being an Organized Bulldog!

Welcome to Bogle! You will go to 5 different classes in one day: math, language arts, science, social studies, and an elective. This means you have to carry your binders, books, and supplies for each class! –You will receive a set of textbooks to be used at home for the year. Being prepared, organized, and tenacious is key to being successful in junior high.

What do I need? A backpack 3-inch binder or accordion file –Some teachers may require a specific binder (1-inch) for their class. Dividers Lined paper (college ruled) Pencils (at least 5 at all times!) Pens –blue, black, and red Highlighters Dry Erase Markers AR Book USB Drive Your ID Agenda

Backpack Find one with pockets. More pockets = less time digging around in bag to find something Keep it organized by cleaning it out once a week! Make sure it’s durable…it will go everywhere with you! Good Bad 

Binders and Dividers Use a system that works for you. Label tabs! –Color coding (red = math, blue = social studies. –Number System (Period 1, Period 2) Put all papers behind the appropriate divider in the rings. Take time everyday to put papers where they belong, don’t just stuff them in the pocket! Good Bad 

Pens, pencils, and highlighters Oh my! Have at least 5 pencils in your backpack all the time! –Have a few wood pencils just in case your mechanical pencils break or run out of lead. Blue, red, and black pens are needed for checking answers. Highlighters for highlighting text. Some teacher require dry erase markers for board work. Good Bad 

Other goodies 2-pocket folder will help keep your homework ready to do or ready to be turned in. A USB drive (thumb/flash drive) is helpful for working on projects between school and home.

Agenda You need to write down all homework in your agenda. Check off when you have finished an assignment. Show your parents every night. Daily communication between teachers and parents.

Good

Bad 

Bulldogs are readers! All teachers required reading for 25 minutes at home. Parents need to sign your AR log. A completed AR log is needed to take AR tests and earn AR points. AR is part of your language arts grade!

Quick Tips Keep all notes until your teacher says they are no longer needed. Put all graded work in a folder at home and recycle papers you are done with. Teachers can and will help you with organization. Clean out your backpack and binder once a week. Don’t let your backpack get out of hand!

Remember… Take time to keep things in order. Teachers offer tutoring at least one day every week. It’s okay and encouraged to ASK FOR HELP! Teachers are willing to help you organize and understand concepts. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LEARNING! Your teachers are here to support you but your success is dependent on how hard you work! Bogle Bulldogs are TENACIOUS!
