What’s the difference between Health and Wellness? Health: Being Free from disease, generally just speaking about physical things Wellness. Being Healthy in ALL areas

Health is really a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being. You can think of your health as a triangle with three equal sides.

Keeping the three parts of the health triangle in balance is the best way to achieve wellness. To achieve and maintain a high level of wellness throughout your life: Make wise decisions Practice healthful behaviors each day Keep ALL areas of your “self” at it’s optimal level Your health and wellness are related. Your level of wellness depends on how the three aspects of health interact over time.

P = I = S = E = S = PHYSICAL INTELLECTUAL SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SPIRITUAL P.I.S.E.S.

Physical Health Your physical health involves the condition of your body. (What you can see or touch) To keep your body strong and healthy:

Intellectual Health or Mental Health relates to your Mind… thoughts, thinking process

Social Health Social health involves the ways in which you relate to other people. Aka= your group interactions

Emotional Health Your emotional health relates to how you express your feelings, cope with difficulties, and your self concept

Spiritual Health Values, Morals, Beliefs of what's right and wrong in different situations How do you know what is right and wrong? Learned through your influences

INFLUENCES Defined = Where someone learns how to act can be easily summarized by placing into 2 categories: 1)= media (things) 2) = people and environment (person, place)
