Getting started Go to File then New Start a blank presentation and then create your own backgrounds by selecting Format then Background or; Choose a Design Template or; Choose the Autocontent Wizard to guide you through a preset presentation. You can also download templates from the internet, go to New from template and select Templates on Microsoft.com

The Independent Learner: Using Hyperlinks Use a question with a multi choice answer draw boxes to click on (use drawing toolbar on view menu). Design a page for the correct answer, include ‘Click here for the next question’. Design a page for an incorrect answer, include ‘Click here to go back to the question’. Have next question page ready. To insert the hyper link highlight the box or text right click mouse select hyperlink, link to ‘Place in this Document’ select page then OK. Run show to check hyperlinks

The Layout of the Slide

Inserting media clips On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, click Movie from Clip Organizer, locate the folder that contains the file you want, and then double-click the file.

Inserting other video/sound clips Open the movie file from your desktop to see if you have an application installed that will play the file. If you can play the movie, continue with this task. If you don't have a program that will play the movie, try downloading the appropriate QuickTime program from the Apple Computer, Inc., Web site, and proceed with this task. Display the slide you want the movie on in PowerPoint, and on the Slide Show menu, point to Action Buttons, then select the Movie action button. Draw a button on the slide. The Action Settings dialog box appears; click Run program and then click Browse. Draw a button on the slide. The Action Settings dialog box appears; click Run program and then click Browse. In the Browse dialog box, change Files of type to All Files. Then browse to your movie file and click OK. Click OK in the Action Settings dialog box. Using this method you will also be able to use the controls of the application.
