6A Special Areas Schedule Monday-Library Tuesday-Music Wednesday-Art Thursday-Gym Friday-Gym 8:20-9:02

Entering Class Papers to pick up-on desks up front- get them first thing! Bring GUM on Monday and Tuesday. Turn in homework. Sharpen pencils. Do DOL. It will be on board. Copy the sentence, making necessary corrections. Leave in binder.

Binder Organization You need a section for each: Reading Writing Grammar DOL BE ORGANIZED!!!

Procedures Turn in papers on labeled trays beside my desk. Sharpen pencils upon arrival. Have needed supplies. I keep extra pencils and paper on the back counter, near the pencil sharpener. Use only when needed-don’t abuse the supply.

What is my GUM? GUM is the blue grammar workbook. We use it on Monday and Tuesday. When Mrs. Pinkston says, “Bring your GUM”, she does not mean the kind you chew.

Grammar GUM Workbook (blue) Every Monday and Tuesday Keep in locker or leave on designated shelf and get it when you enter

DOL Daily Oral Language-This will be editing practice. You will correct errors in sentences. Keep in binder, in DOL section. Do Monday-Thursday on one paper. Check in class and correct.

Writing Several handouts for binder. Write, edit, then rewrite a final copy. Every single assignment can’t be graded. Sometimes I let you choose one of several, to be graded. Editing is important-correct your mistakes!

Reading Novels-most of the time Literature Book-occasionally Perhaps a workbook Read for pleasure!

Leaving Class Wait to be dismissed by Mrs. Pinkston. Take ALL personal belongings with you. Push your chair underneath the desk. Leave the desk and floor area neat.

Life will be easier if you do not… write on my desks. write in my desks. bring sharpies or other permanent markers into my classroom. talk when I am teaching. talk when you should be working.

I almost forgot…. NEVER try to touch the projector. Do not use markers on the Promethean board. This is expensive technology. Take care of it!

Simple Rules Respect yourself and others. Do your best. You are in 6 th grade. You know what is expected of you. Behave accordingly and we will have a successful year.
