2 What to know about Ms. Auer
I have taught school for 7 years in Columbiana and Oak Mountain schools at the high school and middle school level. I am getting married this November to Nicholas Sawyer.

3 HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN 6TH GRADE
Write assignments in agenda daily and/or weekly. Do homework. Study daily what was done in class. Correct homework that they missed from the night before. Explain the information to you or someone else. If a student can talk through a problem/concept, then clarity usually follows. Come to teachers’ rooms in the mornings for extra help.

5 STUDENT EXPECTATIONS Do your Best. We all make mistakes. What matters is what you do with those mistakes. Be RESPECTFUL. Respect yourself, your peers, and your teacher by coming to class prepared mentally and physically ready to learn. Be ON TIME. Students should be in their assigned seat and WORKING on the bellringer when the bell rings. Be Prepared. Have all necessary materials when entering the classroom such as homework, notebook, pencils, or any other special materials you have been told to bring. ASK QUESTIONS. Please do not hesitate to ask questions. I am here to help you.

6 Math BINDER THREE TABS IN BINDER
Bell ringer/Notes: daily; numbered; students write and solve the problem on the board; class works it out together; notes go underneath on the same page Homework: classwork and homework (bronze grades) Grades: notebook checks, quizzes, and tests (silver and gold grades)

7 STUDENT HELP! THINK TANK TEACHERS
Math Think Tank: math teachers are available Monday-Friday mornings, 7:15-7:40 to help students. Students need to arrive before 7:30 to get help. Students have to have a written pass in agenda or on paper. ALL teachers are available each morning 7:15-7:40 unless they have a school duty. If students have a question or do not understand a concept, teachers are here to assist.

8 CONFERENCES Please call the front office, , to schedule a conference with team members.

9 ABSENCES If student is absent, any work that is done at school will be available upon request or in binder. *Check the BLOG. It is your child’s responsibility to discuss make-up assignments, notes, or tests with me. *Check the BLOG. Please send an excuse to school when student returns (or within three days) explaining the absence.

10 ADVISORY 30 minutes Students can get some or most homework done during this time if they use their time wisely. Students are expected to complete their math work first before moving on to other subjects. Students may go see a teacher if they have a pass from the teacher (make up work, finish tests, etc.) Grade will be given for advisory.

11 Team Liaisons WHITE TEAM: BLUE TEAM: Timberly Harris

12 MISCELLANEOUS EMERGENCY PASSES: students have two per nine weeks. May use during class for locker, restroom, etc. FIVE MINUTES between classes for restroom, water, locker, etc. (plenty of time)

13 MISCELLANEOUS iNOW: Grades may be checked daily in iNOW. They will be put in weekly. This year, iNOW is free to all families. You will receive a password.
