Attendance Please keep absences, tardies, and early dismissals to a minimum. We do a lot of hands-on activities that are difficult or impossible to replicate at home. Always send a note after an absence. Students have one day for each absence to make up assignments. Call the office before 10:00 am if you wish to pick up make up work for that day.

Agendas Agendas will help keep students organized and keep parents informed. Behavior and homework will be written in the agenda. Check your child’s agenda each evening and initial at the bottom on the page. Agendas are checked daily in the classroom.

Homework Homework should take no longer than 45 minutes. If it consistently takes longer, please let me know. Students should read 20 minutes every night. This should be included in the 45 minutes of homework. If spelling homework is not specified, students may study their words in any way that helps them. Other homework may be given, but we will try to give more than one day to complete the assignment.

Specials We attend specials every day from 12:10 – 12:55 pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays we will go to music class and library/computers. The other days we will go to P.E.

Standardized Dress Our district has mandatory standardized dress. We will be enforcing standardized dress at Coronado Village. At Coronado Village: Polo shirts or Oxford shirts, are acceptable as long as there are not negative or derogatory pictures, saying, or writings on the shirt Shirt must be tucked in if it is longer than 6 inches past the waist T-shirts are not allowed unless it has CVEs, JISDs, or college name on it (NOT NFL, NBA, Spurs, etc.). Leggings are allowed only with a dress or skirt of proper length on top. Skirts and shorts must be knee length or longer

Discipline Students will follow CHAMP guidelines at all times – in the classroom and all common areas. Discipline infractions will be reported in students’ agendas. Conduct grades will be given in progress reports and report cards. Students will be given a grade of E, S, N, U based on the number of notations in their agendas.

Conferences Please sign up for a conference now if you have questions or concerns specific to your child. Conferences will be scheduled for all students in the fall. Phone conferences can be arranged if you are not able to come to school during school hours.

Parties and Field Trips We will have at least one field trip. Volunteers must receive training. This can be done at school or online. We will have three parties: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and End of the Year. Birthday treats must be store bought. They may not be served until 2:00 If you are passing out birthday invitations at school, there must be one for all boys/girls or all students in the class.

How Can You Help? Ask your child what they are learning in school. Read the weekly newsletter and your child’s agenda. Join PTP (Parent/Teacher Partnership) and attend the meetings. Take the Volunteer Training Class so you can help out when your schedule allows. Let me know if you have concerns or questions during the school year.
