2 Please email or call by 1:45, or send a written note about change in transportation for your child. Students will not be called out of class after 2:20. If you choose not to drop off your child in the line then please pull through to the parking spots, and walk your child across the cross walk. To minimize classroom interruptions only lunchboxes and eyeglasses will be delivered to the classroom by the office. Please don’t worry if your child leaves their folder, homework, water bottler, or even their snack. Business First…

3 Do not use cell phones while driving on school property. You will receive a ticket. Walkers will not be dismissed to cars in the parking lot. For your child’s safety we advise that you do designate a location to meet your walkers or bikers. Do not park in Madison to pick up your child. Parents may not drop off students at the back of the building. By law buses and cars must be separated. Parents need to stay in their car during parent pick up. More business

4 Read every night for 15 minutes (document on reading log in the daily folder) Practice reading and writing sight words Practice spelling words (we will start spelling in a few weeks) Homework

5 STRIPE Folders will go home every day to show school work and behavior. Blanton Folder will go home every Tuesday with information about school events. *Please return the Blanton folder on Wednesday. Folders

6 “Rock Stars” Students will have the opportunity to be a “Rock Star” everyday for good behavior, good work ethic and being a friend to all. Students who make good choices can take home Corrie, our class dog. Our class works hard every day to earn marbles for our Party Jar. When the jar is completely full, we will have a class party to celebrate. Students can also earn tickets to spend on different prizes in the classroom. Classroom Management

7 We use kind words and actions. We raise our hand to speak. We listen when others are speaking. We take care of our things. Our class defined each rule to identify our class’ expectations! Then we all signed the rules to show our agreement and promise to follow them. Our Class Rules

8 Beginning first grade readers should be fluently reading and comprehending at level D. Reading levels will be tested and recorded every report card. By the end of the year first graders should be fluently reading and comprehending at a level J. Data Folders Students will set their own goals and keep up with their progress in their Data folders. Reading Levels

9 Students are expected to adhere to the dress code policies as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct Handbook. No flip flops or spaghetti straps, the straps must be the width of two fingers. Please ensure that shorts, skirts, and dresses reach to the end of the child’s fingertips. Please make sure your child has tennis shoes for P.E. P.E. days vary for each class. 10 Birthdays Students can bring in treats (such as cupcakes, cookies or cookie cake) to celebrate their birthday. We are required by FMNV law to serve treats the last 30 minutes of the day. All treats must be store bought and nut free. Class Parties Winter party – December 21 st 12:00 – 12:45 Valentines party – February 14 th 7:50am-8:30am End of year party – June 6 th 11:45-12:30 Please make sure you have filled out a background check if you would like to volunteer for school parties or etc. (due to limited space older siblings will not be allowed to attend parties. Smaller siblings are welcomed but will not be able to participate. ) Classroom Parties

11 September 28 th we will go to Guyer High School for a theatre production. Due to limited space no volunteers are needed. Field Trips
