Purpose Provide information to TSM and their families on Health care and mental health care options. Standard Physical Dental check-up Copies of Health Records All TSMs Comprehensive medical evaluation Separation history and Physical Examination (SHPE)

Why? Identification and documentation of any medical condition(s) requiring ongoing care. How do I initiate disability claim? To meet your requirements, a disability exam will be performed by the Veterans Affairs (VA). Q. When do you initiate VA claim? A. 180 day prior to separation.

What's available for TSM for mental health care? The DOD mental heath self assessment program (MHSA) DOD intransition program Veteran affairs coverage Suicide resource for veterans, families and friends

The DOD mental heath self-assessment program (MHSA) Mental health, alcohol screening and referral program available to TSMs and their families to remedy the effects of deployment and mobilization. Anonymous Offered online By phone Special events at installation or reserve unit

What can TSMs self-assess anonymously? Depression Bipolar disorder Alcohol use PTSD Generalized anxiety disorder Why self-assess? Personalized results Access to Military health resources including TRICARE,Vet Centers and military OneSource.

TSMs can self refer to mental health if they are seen at a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). TSMs (AD) family members seeking mental health appointment(s) do not require preauthorization for the first 8 (eight) visits if they seek care within their TRICARE network.

Each branch of service offers; Clinical and non-clinical preventions. Education Treatment programs Campaigns addressing mental and substance abuse disorder (SUD) .

TRICARE offers Acute psychiatric hospitalization SUD inpatient/residential detox and rehab Partial hospitalization Intensive outpatient treatment Outpatient therapy and medication assisted treatment i.e. Methadone Opiate treatment program

DOD INTRANSITION PROGRAM Purpose Confidential coaching program that Answers questions about treatment options Provide information about community resources Set up appointment with a behavioral health provider at your new location.

Eligibility* Available to ALL military members regardless of length of service or discharge status and there is NO expiration date to enroll. https://www.pdhealth.mil/resource-center/intransition

VETERANS AFFAIRS COVERAGE Under Combat Veteran Authority, combat vets discharged after January 28, 2003 are offered enhance enrollment placement for five years post separation. Who’s else is eligible? Veterans Activated Reservists National Guard, if they served on active duty in a theater of combat operations after November 11, 1998, and have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions.

What else can the VA do? Specialized treatment for mental health issues i.e. PTSD, SUD Treatment include medication, psychotherapy, group therapy etc. https://www.va.gov/healthbenefits/apply/returning_servicemem bers.asp What happens if you got dishonorable, “bad paper” discharge or separated due to mental heath or substance use problems? You are considered a high priority for VA care and you don’t have to have a service connected disability to be taken care of .

Behavioral Heath Treatment Locator A confidential and anonymous source of information for persons seeking treatment facilities in the United States or U.S. Territories for substance abuse/addiction and/or mental health problems. https://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/ For AD family members seeking outpatient mental health substance use disorder treatment, referral and preauthorization are not required if treatment is sort within your TRICARE network.
