Being a college student means…. Running Start is NOT 100% Free Program costs Running Start is NOT 100% Free Every quarter students pay: Student Fees (approx. $200 per quarter for full-time student) Course fees – be sure to check course catalog, fees vary Books = $250+ for full-time students Supplies Provide own transportation Financial Assistance: Student fee waiver & Book Loan Program: available to eligible students

Time management A fulltime course load at the college may only be 3 hours of class time per day Class study time that is expected at the college level for a week is twice the number of credits 15 credits x 2 = 30 hours of study required per week You must make your academics a priority to be successful If you are working, be sure to limit your work time to 15 hour or less per week

Flexibility Classes may fill up quickly Be sure to check your email regularly for reminders from PHS You will need to meet with your High School counselor in October, January, and April to complete your EVF form – be sure to schedule a meeting in advance to get your paperwork done on time You may need to take afternoon or evening classes, or enroll in courses at multiple locations (Puyallup, Fort Steilacoom, Graham Kapowsin High School) Remember that you if you are not able to get into a class you need, you can try again the next quarter.
