3 What is Dual Credit? CISD partnership with DCCCD
Dual credit is a process through which a learner may earn both high school and college credit. DCCCD waives tuition for pre-approved courses CHS Course Guide Course Guide Books and additional materials are the learners responsibility

4 Why Take Dual Credit? Many Benefits:
Learners may potentially earn 3-60 hours of college credit for free Junior & Senior year students can enroll in 3 to 6 hours per semester Summer school can enroll in 3 to 12 hours Senior Scholar Program (CHS Only) - can enroll in 15 hours per semester CISD Learners have earned credit in over 7,800 + courses over the past 7 years Dual Credit courses are awarded (Honors) Level 3 GPA points Dual Credit Schedule can provide time & flexibility for learner Example- Learners who are on M/W schedule have open study time T/TH/FRI

All dual credit courses taken for high school credit will be recorded on the high school transcript as a numerical grade and will be included in the GPA calculation as a (Honors) Level 3 course. Students should be aware that taking college classes concurrently while in high school results in the establishment of a collegiate academic record and students earn a college grade point average. Learners must submit an official NL transcript to any institution where admission is sought.

12 Who makes a good candidate for Dual Credit?
Students who: are mature, organized and responsible. have good study habits. are motivated and self starters. do not need reminders regarding assignment and project deadlines. have their own transportation.

13 What are additional considerations?
Late work almost never accepted by professors Syllabus expected to be followed without reminders Professors do not communicate with parents North Lake holiday schedule not always aligns with CISD holiday schedule Learner extracurricular activities and other absences not excused Accelerated 8 week and online courses need to be considered carefully Repercussions for failing grades include: Academic Probation Failed Course on permanent record May not be eligible for next semester courses
