1 Running Start 2016-2017 What is Running Start?
A statewide Community & Technical college program for academically qualified junior and senior high school students. Students enroll in courses to fulfill high school graduation requirements and earn college credit.

2 Eligibility HS Junior or Senior.
Through taking a placement test (Compass/Accuplacer): Students must place into English 101 Students must place into college-level math AND reading 101 for math.

3 Enrollment Running Start is available only in fall, winter and spring quarters. Students may enroll in high school and college courses, or full time in college. Full time Running Start students may enroll in one HS course.

4 Tuition & Credits College tuition for eligible classes are free.
The maximum credit eligible is based on students combined high school and college enrollment. One five (5) credit class at the college earns one 1.0 HS credit.

5 Credit Equivalencies 5 Qtr. Cr = 1.0 HS Cr 4 Qtr. Cr = .80 HS Cr

6 Getting Started at ER Attend Running Start Information Night, Thursday, March 10, 6: :00 pm (Pierce College) and 7:10 – 8:00 pm (CPTC), ER Auditorium. Take the College Placement test. Contact College Advising Office for admission, registration and orientation. Make appointment with your counselor (see timeline).

7 Getting Started at College
Complete the COMPASS Assessment. Submit Admissions form to Admissions Office if you are eligible. Meet with your counselor to complete Enrollment Verification Form and give them the required forms. Sign-up and attend a registration workshop. Then register for classes. Sign-up and attend an orientation.

8 Time Line March 9, 6:00 pm, Running Start Information Night at Pierce College. March 10, 6-7pm Pierce College Running Start Information & CPTC 7:10-8pm in the ER auditorium. May 9 – 20th, meet with your counselor to complete pre-registration advising. June 1st, New Student Registration.

9 Documents Needed for Counseling Appointment
Bring these documents from the College you will be attending: Placement Test Scores Enrollment Form or Proof of Admission Bring these documents, signed by your family: Running Start Agreement Form (yellow) Advisory Opt-Out From (white & only if needed) Running Start Plan (blue) ** Available on ER’s counseling webpage or in the CCC**
