Assessment Objective Six Evaluation

Evaluation An Evaluation of the completed product and the process through which it went through to reach its final form is important. It helps you learn, develop and improve “But we aren't finished yet!” Allows us to see areas for improvement before we take it to far!

Merit Candidates produce a detailed evaluation. It covers the end product, the processes involved and the technical aspects of the finished product. Feedback is sought and recorded. Some valid improvements are suggested.

Distinction Candidates produce a comprehensive evaluation. It covers the end product, the process involved and the creative and technical aspects of the finished product. Feedback is sought and recorded. A range of valid improvements are suggested, along with detailed notes on how they could be implemented.

Technical Quality The first area to look at Ask questions such as Is it well made Are timings appropriate Is the movement suitable for characters Have / Which Principles of Animation been applied.

Storyline Character Creative Quality Will they find it interesting Do the audience believe in your character Does it fulfil the aims? ?

Target Audience We have defined targets for our animations. Still Suitable? Still Appropriate? Will they want to watch?

Software and Techniques Used. Has full use been made of the tools avilable in the software? Was it the right choice of animation method for this product?

Compare with professional animations. Pick 2 “similar” animations Charity Technique

Task One Obtain Feedback from others in terms of Storyboard Characters Quality of Animation

Task Two (Homework) Evaluate your own (using feedback also) on the following terms Technical Quality Creative Quality Appeal to target audience (refer to your design) Software and Techniques used

Task Three (Homework) Select a suitable existing animation and compare your work with it. Do so in terms of style, Main Character and Storyline Comment on similarities and Difference

Task Four (Homework) Suggest at least five improvements to your animation and explain what effects they would have on the final product Suggest at least three animations you could have made to the process of creating your animation and explain what these would have had on your project and the final product.
