1 Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral
Unit 5: Investigating Audio Production and Technology Assessor: Shelina Mawani-Markin Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria Callum Brown Assessment Criteria for PASS R= Referral, S = satisfactory, HS = High Standard, VHS = Very High Standard R S HS VHS Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral 1.1 Analyse the requirements  and parameters of an  audio-based problem in  creative media production.         x You have produced a detailed analysis of BBC Radio 1 discussing the content and style in relation to the appeal for the target audience. You have illustrated your points about content and style with examples of the content. You have noted genres and specific programmes to produce a detailed profile of the station. You could research more thoroughly tthe remit of the BBC to further discuss how radio 1 fits within this context. You have commented on both programming and the website. You have analysed a radio 1 news bulletin to a satisfactory standard. The comments you have made are fairly brief. You could have elaborated on various points, for example, news values. You could have said why these topics have news value for the target audience. Also you could comment on the use of interviews and how these were incorporated in the bulletin. 1.2 Apply research activities to support solutions to an audio-based problem in creative media production. You have sourced a range of news stories and identified news values. You have justified the order of your stories. In order to achieve a higher grade you should have justified your choice of interview clip and given more detail on the type of questions you might ask. You also need to relate your choice of stories to the specific Sound Radio audience.  2.1 Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and present solutions to an You have submitted a draft version of your script but not a finished version which you need to do to demonstrate knowledge of planning and organising your radio news bulletin script whilst clearly applying broadcast news writing techniques. The blog post guidance asked you to include the following: Explain the key rules of writing a radio script; Explain what you did to make your vox pop interviews; Explain any improvements you have made to your script following class feedback; Explain how you overcome any problems; Upload your final script. To be a higher grade you need to expand on EXACTLY what you did, why you did it and HOW you overcame problems related to writing the script. A good idea is to compare your work to a professional script.  Submitted 2.2 Apply practical skills, understanding and methods to solve an You have applied practical audio skills and produced an interesting new bulletin. Your recording is a good standard. Your bulletin is clear, engaging and well read. The link to the interview is very good. There are some issues with levels. At times, your voice 'pops' - too close to the mic perhaps. The ending needed further development. Your last few words are lost because of the jingle coming in too early.  3.1 Analyse the effectiveness of solutions to an audio based problem in creative media production. You have described what you did and reflected on the production process, including how you solved any issues you encountered. You have included some critical comparison with a professional product. You have reflected on audience feedback. A fuller evaluation could reflect on your planning, story sourcing, scripting and use of technology. Has the student passed the Unit?
