1 Learning Outcome 3 – Assignment
LO3: Be able to carry out usability testing You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the multimedia product for ‘Out and Up’. Assignment Tasks (P, M, D) 1 You are now ready to test the extent to which your finished product meets the needs of the client. When testing your completed product, you should: Test that the various elements of the product are working Obtain and analyse a variety of feedback from users Decide how well your product meets the success criteria you established in Task 1 Remember: “‘Out and Up’ is a company that runs team-building exercises for young adults. You have been asked to produce an interactive multimedia product that would advertise the centre in a manner that would appeal to adults between the ages of 17 and 23. The product must have a consistent style throughout. ‘Out and Up’ already has a reputation for creating exciting team-building exercises and you are asked to use a range of interactivity and effects to create an advert that appeals to the target audience. It must be visually exciting and lead to bookings being made at the centre.” Purpose and audience Appropriate testing Testing required during and after completion Feedback from users Analysis of responses Reference to success criteria Sound testing with appropriate analysis of the feedback and most success criteria met (M/D) Thorough testing with effective analysis of feedback in relation to the success criteria (D)

LO3: Be able to carry out usability testing You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the multimedia product for ‘Out and Up’. Task 1 (P, M, D) Test the extent to which your finished product meets the needs of the client. 1 Open your test table and complete post testing to determine if the product meets the requirements that you set out in your success criteria. 2 Provide annotated screenshots of your tests along with any corrections that you have had to make. Remember: “‘Out and Up’ is a company that runs team-building exercises for young adults. You have been asked to produce an interactive multimedia product that would advertise the centre in a manner that would appeal to adults between the ages of 17 and 23. The product must have a consistent style throughout. ‘Out and Up’ already has a reputation for creating exciting team-building exercises and you are asked to use a range of interactivity and effects to create an advert that appeals to the target audience. LO3: Be able to carry out usability testing You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the multimedia product for ‘Out and Up’. Task 2 (P, M, D) Test the extent to which your finished product meets the needs of the client. 1 Create a feedback questionnaire that will be used to determine if your multimedia product has met the success criteria you created in LO1. You should therefore make sure that the questions asked within the questionnaire deal with points made in the success criteria! Distinction only: 2 Printout the questionnaire and justify the reason why you decided to use a questionnaire to collect feedback and how it relates to the success criteria. LO3: Be able to carry out usability testing You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the multimedia product for ‘Out and Up’. Task 3 (P, M, D) Test the extent to which your finished product meets the needs of the client. 1 Show your product to two different people and ask them to provide you with some written feedback about your multimedia product. Remember: “‘Out and Up’ is a company that runs team-building exercises for young adults. You have been asked to produce an interactive multimedia product that would advertise the centre in a manner that would appeal to adults between the ages of 17 and 23. The product must have a consistent style throughout. ‘Out and Up’ already has a reputation for creating exciting team-building exercises and you are asked to use a range of interactivity and effects to create an advert that appeals to the target audience. LO3: Be able to carry out usability testing You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the multimedia product for ‘Out and Up’. Task 5 (P, M, D) Test the extent to which your finished product meets the needs of the client. 1 Open your success criteria and create a column “Have I met the success criteria”. Complete this column with your evidence on whether you have met all the success criteria. 2 Include a conclusion to analyse whether you feel your multimedia advertisement has been a success or not. Distinction only: 3 Suggest a range of appropriate improvements that could be made in order to meet the user requirements.
