Happy April. I hope that you all are staying well and healthy. With Spring upon us, everything is starting to bloom and grow. Allergy season has begun. If your student has any special concerns regarding allergies, please be sure to notify the clinic. During allergy season, student’s with asthma and or other respiratory problems can be easily affected. It is very important that our student’s with asthma have emergency medication available in the clinic. Please contact the clinic for instructions regarding medication policy. It is very important that we try to encourage the best health possible for our school family. If you have a sick child, please be sure to follow the district’s sick guidelines and keep them at home. If you have questions about your child, please contact the clinic and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Clinic News Items The Care Van will be available on April 2nd. Center Street Grand Prairie, TX, 75150 5:00p – 7:00 p Allergy Season Tips Allergy symptoms can often look similar to a cold or virus. The absence of fever and body aches typically points to allergies. Mucus is usually thin and clear. You may see congestion, runny nose, sneezing, headache, and itching. If symptoms persist over a week, contact your pediatrician. Drink plenty of water and get the recommended amount of sleep. This is 10-12 hours for ages 5-12. Make sure to wash your hands and avoid touching the face after playing or working outside. Change clothing after playing or working outside to avoid bringing allergens into the house. Speak to your physician for over the counter or prescribed medication to treat allergies if needed. Specials Corner Music: Kinder: Identify long and short sounds by moving and playing 1st grade: Continue preparing for the music performance on April 16, 2019 “Bada Bong, It’s Spring!” 2nd grade: Focus on composing and ordering music 3rd grade: Focus on form and organization of music; add musical accompaniment to a story 4th grade and 5th grade: Continue playing the ukulele; learn folk songs and dances Art: Hello Families, I encourage you to take a look into why GPISD finds it crucial for every elementary student in our district partake in art class. The students gain so much experience in art and it benefits them in so many ways! PE: For the month of April we will focus on the following: Soccer Kickball Cooperative Games Safety PE reminders: 1. Everyone MUST wear sneakers for safety on their PE days!!! 2. Girls should wear shorts under dresses if they have PE that day. 3. If a student has a medical condition or injury, please send a note/medical excuse. 4. If student is missing more than 3 PE classes (one week) a Doctor’s note is required! 5. No big jewelry is allowed during PE for safety reasons, but can be taken off before class starts.
